Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That face you make when you know what questions you'll be answering after the game.

Johnny signed up for it... At some point he's going to need to sit and look at the cause--effect of his decision making both on and off the field. They are never going to stand as their own "silos" for a player with his cache. If you suck, people are going to look for indicators as to why in any place they can. It's just a brighter light on him in a tougher atmosphere..

Huge non story.

He'll get fined, as he should. And everyone will move on.

He's going to get slaughtered in this league. Is he even on a team in a couple years? (not in a wheelchair?)

We'll see if he gets slaughtered. He has to learn the playbook to get on the field first.

He has a live arm. And has, at times, good accuracy. I'll be interested to see what he looks like if he ever gets good timing/named starter *whenever that happens.*

This doesn't necessarily belong in the Johnny thread, but the timing issue was extremely apparent. The decision at QB needs to be made pretty soon. Too many moving parts in this offensive install that it looks disorganized on the field.

i said this in the game thread, but the QBs were not missing by miles, it was slight under throws, or over throws. it was the timing stuff that gets worked out, by having more reps. jon gruden hit that on the head the first or second series of the game.

there are still 2 weeks of preseason left. Chances are Hoyer gets named the starter and ends up taking 75% of the snaps with the first team to close that timing gap. Manziel still gets some first team snaps because he is going to see playing time here and there, its just not going to be 100% right away.

This is the way it should have gone down since training camp. Hate to hold up Jacksonville as a pillar of stability and common sense, but naming Henne the starter and giving Bortles a defined role as the second stringer looks to be paying off more than the mess we have here in CLE.

It's the second preseason game. Hardly the time to panic. Still have three weeks of practice before Pittsburgh.

Start Hoyer week 1, hopefully through the bye.

I'm sorry, he's going to die in the NFL. What a waste of a draft pick. Maybe I'll eat my words, but I really believe he has no chance.

I see your point but I disagree. Is giving the middle finger during a game a story? Not really. But he has a lot of these little quasi-stories all the time.

Drinking and being kicked out of the Manning Academy
+
Getting Kicked out of a Texas Frat Party
+
Partying in Vegas with Gronk
+
Partying in a Vegas Bathroom rolling a $20 bill
+
Flicking off an opposing team on MNF
+
Countless other things that I can't recall off the top of my head.

When you add them all up, collectively it becomes a story of his maturity.

He's 21. He's going to be prone to immaturity.

21 year olds are going to do stupid things.

He should get a more normal job then.

Plenty of other young players in this league take on this once in a lifetime opportunity with a bit more maturity.

The age excuse would also be more acceptable if didn't continuously do stupid shit. Individually, his fuck ups can be overlooked, especially if he plays well. But his actions are painting a picture of an immature little shit who isn't mentally ready to be an NFL QB, let alone a good one.

It should go without saying that these things all go away if he plays well and wins. He hasn't even proven the ability to do that against second or third string competition.

So yes, there is certainly a cause for concern, and if you dismiss that you are simply in denial.
