So regardless of doing that in college, we can't assume it will transfer because this is the NFL now?
Yeah, not sure that's how it works for every other prospect...not how it works for Johnny Football
The reason I say I'm not sure its the right decision. I'm beginning to wonder if Johnny himself is going to be evaluated now, the rest of the way, to see whether or not we should take a QB.
I'm not even a Johnny fan, but I think that's absolutely unfair to him. To come in this late of the season, and seriously expect what we do, or don't have with him, and then use that to determine whether we should take a QB.
I don't think we'll really know what we have in Johnny for sure, until we enter a training camp with him as the guy, him getting all the reps with the first string, and getting an offense implemented around him to make that determination.
I don't really expect it to all go that well for him right now, but hey if it does, then he's proven me wrong.
this is why it makes absolutely 0 sense to change to manziel unless the browns are out of the playoff run, which is at least another 2, and probably 3 games.
if he starts the coaching staff is basically saying "we are in the middle of a playoff run, and feel as though manziel is better than hoyer" and if that happens, and if manziel fails that is absolutely on him.

Much like Hoyer, you've pigeonholed Manziel's whole player profile from the get-go, and that's a fair shake.
General question.
What available quarterback would make you happy?

We were most likely eliminated on Sunday by losing to Buffalo. Mathematically we're still in the race, but Buffalo and Houston both have huge tiebreakers over us and we're looking at one of the most difficult remaining schedules (IND, CIN, @CAR, @BAL) out of the bunch of 7-5 teams. Finishing 3-1 against that slate would be impressive but potentially not enough to make the playoffs.
Even if he's inserted into the starting lineup Johnny shouldn't be blamed for the Browns not making the playoffs this year, that's absurd. Their chances of snagging a wild-card spot are slim-to-none, and Bill Barnwell from Grantland predicts the Browns to only have a 7.2% of winning the division. That's the lowest of any AFC North member, and it's before Johnny's even seeing significant reps.
i said manziel not the browns.
the poster said it wouldnt be fair to judge manziel if he doesnt succeed. I called him out, because thats bullshit. you dont make a QB change with the playoffs on the line unless you think the new QB is better

Start Hoyer the rest of the season and leave the nation with that 80 yard TD drive tease from the Bills game. Email the YouTube video of that drive to Jerry Jones daily, and when he finally cracks trade Johnny to the Boys for their 1st rounder.
Really though, at what point in the day are we expecting the announcement? I'll be in and out of meetings until this evening and don't want to miss anything.
