Only casual fans still don't get Johnny can't play in this league.
I'm hardly an expert, but I've seen enough to know he can't play in this league. He can't. This is my non-bias view. I've tried being open minded with his play too.
He's not really been bad when he's played, but he's shown his clear limits and deficiencies that will plague him in this league too.
The Browns don't want him at all. I wish they'd just cut him, to avoid any circus talk about him playing I suppose...
My guess why they haven't is they still think they can trade him.
He has no future here. His only ally was Haslam. Pettine and Farmer have their own issues, but they can at least toot their horns that this guy isn't theirs.
Yeah and you want to know what's going to happen with this team? We're going to blow our chance at getting the #1 pick because Pettine tries to save his job, and McCown actually gives the team a better chance to win. Here comes those 2-3 meaningless wins Cleveland fans.... You know it's coming.
This franchise is so bad they can't even tank. Now we're playing McCown and he's actually capable of winning meaningless football games.
McCown wants to win these meaningless football games! Think about the absurdity of that statement. Our
35yr old non-future QB is going to ruin our chance at getting
THE franchise QB we've been dying for since...... ohhh going on a decade plus now......
By playing Johnny, we were going to get him out of our system; playing Manziel is the intelligent way to tank. Johnny isn't realistically good enough at football to win. The mode of thought then becomes that the Cleveland Browns weren't "tanking" we were
just making damn sure that Johnny is who he is... so that there will be no remorse or dissonance when we finally cut him.....
Playing Johnny was an order handed down to Pettine from Haslam. Pettine has never wanted to play Manziel because Johnny has broken Pettine's trust too many times. This whole entire Johnny Manziel situation falls back on our owner, and how accepting of blame is he? How culpable is Jimmy willing to be when the cameras and microphones are on him?
McCown is looking out for his own future; he has no allegiance to the Browns. He's trying to get another contract somewhere after us. He's going to win this game for us on Monday night football. AND FOR WHAT? FOR WHAT HONESTLY. All these potential wins will show, is exactly how inept we are as a franchise. We can't even try to lose. Losing is just a function of our existence in the National Football League. Losing is what happens when we actually try to win. Winning is what happens to us when it's
probably best that we lose.
If Pettine is going to be fired anyways, why not go out swinging? If you are Mike Pettine, soon you'll be sitting at a bar as former coach of the Cleveland Browns saying "see Haslam, if you'd have just stayed out of the fucking football side and not forced that clown Johnny Manziel on me.... Myself and old man Josh McCown could have actually won games in Cleveland; but you Jimmy, you and that moron Ray Farmer are the reason I couldn't succeed."
Pettine is going to look justified for playing the guy that gives you the best chance to win.
Jimmy isn't going to play the fool and be responsible for Johnny Manziel. Jimmy is going to publicly lash out and fire both Ray Farmer and Mike Pettine. Johnny Manziel will be cut, or traded for peanuts, but you know who isn't going to be standing on stage looking like a jackass? Our very owner, Jimmy Haslam. He's going to be upset, red faced and "
impatient to no end to bring winning football back to Cleveland."
How very fucked up they are. It's unfathomable how deep their problems run. Just as we get the franchise QB, our excellent line will have dried up, aged to prunes. Seriously there's only one thing that could save this franchise and it would be God and his mercy on the fans of Cleveland who are impossibly patient wading through this shit-river of a franchise.
