JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dion: 33 G, 22 3PTm (86 3PTa), four 20pt games, one double digit FGm game
J.R.: 9 G, 29 3PTm (73 3PTa), four 20pt games, two double digit FGm games

-Four 20pt games for Smith in 9 games as a Cav, Dion had four in his last 36 games as a Cav.

-Smith has five games with at least three 3 point makes as a Cav, Dion had five such games in his last 48 games as a Cav.

-Smith has three games with at least five 3 point makes. Dion had one in his entire tenure here.

Right now it looks ludicrous that Griffin basically traded Dion and the Memphis pick (I won't count the scraps in the Waiters trade) for Smith, Shumpert, and Mozgov. Many were worried a bit about Smith (I was one), though most of us knew what he was capable of. It seems to me that he responds and plays well with a winning team that has strong leadership. That's a plus for us.

If things keep going like this, Griffin should get that Exec of the Year award just for pulling off two trades that changed the dynamic of the team and turned the season around.

Thank god for Cleveland's boring night life... Keep playing Call of Duty and ordering those pizza's JR! :celb (14):

JR .gifs are going to be fun. He had a couple of nice moves after hitting 3s tonight as well as the "blowing a kiss" when Shump hit his 3 in the 4th qtr.

He truly is the heir to our wacko SG throne, as good as any of them and as weird as any of them.

Trade day there were two types of posts about Smith.

"Why did we have to take in JR Smith omg hes a cancer, Griffin is a horrible GM."

Or

"Hes pretty much the same player as Dion but worse."

Now 9 games in all you can do is love him. Dude has done his job since game one. Its been said in almost every game i watched that he played in. About how he could so great if he focused. Well this is who they were talking about.

Actually, there were a few of us who said "Smith is similar to Dion, but is a proven scorer who will accept his role (unlike Dion)"

First of all, he is almost identical to Dion in stats but you get rid of the cancer that refuses to accept his role on the team as MoFlo said.

Maybe even more importantly though, JR Smith can shoot the 3 (unlike Dion) at a pretty solid clip. He's no Ray Allen, but he's way better than Dion in this category. That was my first thought when I saw we got JR and I was cautiously optimistic about it, but it's proven to be correct.

The more we win, the better chemistry will get. The trades were great in my book so far.

Like the sig (very similar to mine), where'd you find it?

I doubt that any of JR's previous fanbases appreciated him so much for just shooting the ball without hesitation, and almost never stopping the ball. That lack of conscience used to drive previous fanbases crazy. :chuckle: He must absolutely love the green light he's getting with all the attention paid to other folks.

I'm curious how they'll integrate him more into other parts of the offense. Backdoor cuts for alley oops? He also throws a good entry pass to the post. I find it a little scary to watch him drive to the hoop. Things start to feel out of control quickly. At the same time, he seems a willing passer, at least when he's less than 23 feet from the hoop.

I called him a salary throw-in after the trade. Said he would make us very frustrated (and I'm sure he will at times). I never thought we would see him go on a tear like this, and especially not this early.

How about something like this?

Cue the highlight reel!

JR has been BALLIN. Proud to be one of the 1st ones on that JR train. Since day one, even when he went 0-5, I was super impressed with how he played that game. I thought it was a better game than Dion had all year. Now JR's stats are starting to reflect the impact, but it still doesn't do it justice.

Another reason he is so lethal is that a "bad" shooting night from him really doesn't effect the team because we have so many other weapons. But a good shooting night is so beneficial to us. And I'm not sure he can have a bad shooting night because he will keep firing until he makes them.

JR is a little crazy / unpredictable but damn, he is ultra talented. Opposing teams just never know when he is going to go off, at any minute he can just start drilling 3's from everywhere and you can see opposing teams get deflated.

His floor game and effort on D is much better than had been advertised as well.

Is it sustainable is the only question. Are we still in the honeymoon period with the guy or is this who he is?
