JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I stand by 1 game for JR and 1 game for Olynyk. 2 games max for JR.

If he gets more than 1 game, it will be 2 and there is some precedent for that. It also could be justified due to being a repeat offender if they want to factor in the Terry elbow from 2 years ago. Although that play(on Terry) wasn't exactly egregious and used to be accepted practice for getting space from a guy that was in your jersey.

It'll be 1-2 games but since he was ejected and there was no after effects from the play(most multi-game suspension involve a larger brawl or some action after the fact, not a single play on the court), I'm going with 1 game.

Hmmmm... I wonder how I figured this out hours ago when everyone was freaking out about 3-7 or even 15-20 games or all that non-sense. PRECEDENT, it matters. If only Stein and other people that are paid to analyze this stuff would actually look at publicly available precedent maybe they could get these things right once in a while.

I thought JR would only get 1 since he was ejected from the game. Most likely, they gave him 2 since he had the previous Jason Terry incident(which is why I put 2 max). I had Olynyk's punishment nailed. I bet he was upgraded to a Flagrant 2 after review and thus got the 1-game suspension. I believe I mentioned that Perk would get no additional suspension but would get a small fine for the face contact over on RealGM. I'm not a genius or anything, this stuff is easy if you take your emotion out of it and follow precedent. Going to be a lot of mad folks over on RealGM....

Holy shit the 2 in Cleveland are gonna be rough.

Still am in disbelief - not so much in JR's punishment, but the obvious disparity between the two. 2.5 playoff games for JR, one meaningless October game for BJ. (from now on I'm just going to shorten Bruce Jenner's name). The fair way to do it would have been to punish JR next fall, just like BJ. It just sucks.

PS - next time JR, please don't hurt your own team. Kthx.

I'm kind of pissed off because 2 playoff games = like 10 regular season games. Actually, I'm more pissed off that Olynyk only got a 1 game suspension for dislocating Love's arm by grabbing it with both hands and pulling against his body. Lets just use all of the anger on Chicago and sweep them.

The crowd needs to be absolutely insane. Not like the first round...

Any chance for an appeal here?

Or do you just take the 2 game suspension and consider it fair?

Would be amazing if we could appeal it down to 1.

Have a feeling the 2 gamer is already with a little of dan's comic sans in the mix. It was probably more, Gilbert prob pitched a fit.

I think Love's injury totally changes things. While I was cheering as loud as possible at the first game, I think most people saw it as "just the first round", but now we really don't have any more rounds guaranteed. I am going to look at each game I get to go to as possibly the last of the season, and I'm sure everyone else will too.

This to me did not warrant a multiple game suspension. This to me is the league going by the player's reputation moreso than the actual act.

It was stupid by Smith, it was a bone head move but to tell me it was intentional to hit that fake tough guy in the head is beyond moronic.

This league has become so soft. I remember the days of Shaq, by today's standards he would have been flagrantly fouled upon every fucking game.

This is a joke.

He should appeal and get it down to 1. Maybe he can delay the appeal until right before game 1, so he can play in Cleveland.

No, this isn't the league being "soft." If you swipe at someone like that and have done other similar things before, you will get suspended for multiple games. It's quite simple really. This could have definitely been so much worse.
