K2: Frye Broke His Wrist

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Okay, and that's fine.. But, what should I have seen in Frye at this point that should make me feel comfortable with him, and ignore the feelings I have for a change ?

What is it about Charlie Frye that I'm missing ?

Is it any of the following:

Leadership
Winner
Accurate passer
Killer arm
Play maker
Incredible decision maker
Low INT rate
Superb QB rating
All those TD's he's thrown

Or

And apparently this is HUGE... His scrambling ability

Honestly if we can get a QB that can play half way decent in Cleveland with our roster then he will be an pro bowler anywhere else. You throw Frye on like the Steelers team or Pats or a team like that. He will be a pro bowler.

You can hate Frye all you want. Heck I don't even like him that much. But he havn't gotten a fair chance here in Cleveland. No QB has since we came back to this league. Which is sad.

Last year, the Ram's 3rd string QB from Harvard, came out in a game and started destroying the other D for that game. Remember that guy?

Ya, why isn't he starting now? Or even backing up? Oh ya, cause the other teams got film on him now, and they know his weaknesses.

i never said Charlie was the answer either but you are kidding yourself if you think Derek Anderson should be anything more than a 3rd stringer in the league

Charlie has played all of 1 year in the NFL....not sayin I love him or even want him but thats not a lot of time to become a good qb....Cleveland is becoming a town that just eat qb's up and spits them out not matter how good or bad tehy are

Do you watch the games?

Charlie Frye is the #1 QB... Of getting knocked down on his ass. Getting hit just hurts the QBs concentration. Get drilled by a 300 pound defensive lineman and dry to shake it off like it's nothing. No one can do.

I dont think Frye will take us to the Super Bowl, but Trent Dilfer took the ratbirds there and won. Yes, the ratbirds had a great defense, but who was on the offense=nobody.

Charlie looked damn good against the steelers and looked good against the chiefs, while playing with a broken wrist. Guess what, he had time to throw.

Charlie looked damn awful against the bengals, because he was pressured everytime he threw the ball.

Peyton Manning sucks when playing against the jaguars, why, there front 4 gets pressure on him ALL THE TIME.

If you like Frye or not, him breaking his wrist and missing the rest of the season is a huge setback. Phil/Romeo were going to see how he developed as the season went on, and if he played bad they would go in another direction. Now we dont know, and we have to guess if he would have played well.

So do we go after another qb in the draft, or go after a o-line. I sure as hell hope we go o-line btw.

I agree with the masses here on both counts. I surely liked what Anderson brought to the party yesterday as he seemed to be a little more poised in the pocket. You certainly can't question his arm strength and as mentioned above, he was GREAT in the red zone.

As for Charlie, also mentioned above, we can not accurately evaluate what we have until he is properly protected behind a capable OL. He has been beaten to hell for the equivalent of an entire season now and just keeps getting up and going. He has earned the respect of his teammates and has proven to me that he deserves a shot. Do I wish the ball came out of his hand like Anderson, you bet your ass.

Finally, the Xrays on his wrist were negative. He may go Thursday. We shall see.

Anderson ran twice...when there was nothing open and he had checked down..

Frye will stare down the main guy on the play for 5 seconds and if he isn't open he starts running around like a chicken with his head cut off and gets blindsided and fumbles..

Anderson stayed in the pocket and checked down to the 3rd and 4th options and ran twice for like 45 yards on 2 runs. He had a shovel pass and some nice screen plays for 6 yards.

What I liked....

THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE MOVED
He didn't just throw to the designed guy on every play regardless of cover...he checked down and picked up 4 5 6 8 yards on plays by hitting the open man not the guy who the play was drawn up for.

We didn't get stuck in many 3rd and 10's like we normally do..and as a result of our passing game and the zip he had on the ball in getting there the run game was pretty effective..

He also threw a terrible pass for a pick. Frye was playing a better that game until he got hurt. Give Frye some time and he will play good

I loved how Anderson looked off his receiver than threw... Charlie has laser eyes on his target all the time..

Funny, I didn't know that Charlie usually has 5 seconds to throw. I thought it was more like 2.5 seconds. :chuckles:

On a good day 2.5, agains the Bengals he's lucky to get 2 :chuckles:

But seriously, if your o-line doesnt give your QB time then the QB will suck. Doesn't matter whos in the pocket. O-lines make QBs as well as RBs.

keep your hopes up on Anderson CDT

your optimism brightens my day

Well when a ball is thrown and doesnt wobble and hits the receiver in stride I tend to get a little excited...

When you can improv with a shovel pass for like 20-30 yards I like that too...the fact he can run and secure the ball..

I know it was just a few series' but it was refreshing to say the least..

Maybe.. But I'd love to see him against the Steelers. That is why I want him to play. A team that now has film on him and a team that can play defense. Heck if he plays great against the Steelers you keep playing him.

We're getting attacked by the Charlie Fries
