If I had to guess I think Lebron has schooled Kevin on giving absolutely nothing away. Not to media. Not to ownership. Never let them know what you're thinking.

Oh he definitely has. Kevin has done some very LeBron-ish things when it comes to dealing with the media. In a good way.

That's what I'm hearing when I listen.

These guys can't go all solidarity fist, because they are millionaires and they aren't mad at Nike, Kia, etc. and they need to move product and are smart enough to know people don't generally weep for millionaire athletes even if they got a bad deal. They have to be likeable.

But they aren't obligated to be overly accommodating to media and the front office. They don't have to be accommodating at all beyond the basics.
I think they are keeping them uncomfortable and guessing by design.

There are real basketball issues, but I think their opinion is they'll figure it out amongst themselves.

When you look at what ultimately made the Heat successful, it wasn't a coaching decision. It was Wade coming to terms with deferring to Lebron and understanding they had many duplicate skills that Lebron did a bit better.

That doesn't require loving your coach or even caring what he thinks. That comes from trusting your teammates, and that's what you heard them say from day 1. Not we trust Blatt to maximize our abilities, but Lebron drilling into them they need to trust each other. To the extent you see that will tell the tale.

Not saying Blatt does t have input, but I think he's limited and the players are in a uniquely bunker mentality at the moment on all fronts.

Maybe that's because we only give him the ball in the first quarter and then ignore him up the rest of the game until we expect him to hit a 3 in the 4th for us, which leaves him out of rhythm. Plus, I hardly remember us ever getting him the ball in the post in the 4th quarter.
There are many times to criticize Blatt for not getting Kevin the ball, but last night was not one of them. 4th quarter was all LBJ, no one got a chance to touch the ball unless it was an alley-oop from LBJ. However, Blatt was an IDIOT for not putting Moz in the game when Hibbert was going off. Thank the lord LBJ took the coaching reigns afterwards.

Either late in the 3rd or early in the 4th, there was a possession where LeBron was isolating up top and Kevin found himself moving to the corner, where he threw up his hand as if to indicate he didn't know the play.

It's obvious that he's being under-utilized here. However, if we can go deep in the playoffs, I believe he'll be inclined enough to stay. Hopefully with an off-season to hash things out and with a re-tooled roster, he'll be used more in the capacity he was used to in Minnesota.

I am not worried about him leaving. I mean, do I think he's thrilled with how he's used? Not really. But he accepts it. He doesn't make a stink about it.

The guy seems willing to win, and people lose sight of it. No one likes a diminished role, I don't care who you are. But, Kevin wanted out of Minny for a reason, and some people forget that. He was tired of losing. If he was okay with it and getting his touches, he wouldn't have wanted out.

I think going forward, we are going to utilize him better. We're going to need to. We can't win a title without him, and sooner or later, we're going to figure out what he likes to do best.

Kevin isn't going anywhere. Media can keep talking, in one ear, out the other.

Windy said in his podcast that scouts say Kevin doesn't want ball in the 4th

Kind of. He said some scouts are assuming that.

Windy think it's the back injury. And he thinks Kevin doesn't wanna admit it publicly because he's up for a new contract.

But he said back injuries are fickle because you can't see it happen from the outside, like a guy rolling his ankle and dropping to the ground would. Said you can feel great for three quarters, reach for a rebound, and suddenly you're done. Thought that's what happened in the San Antonio game.

SVC, that first post was all tinfoil hat man.

No way could a single organization, let a lone a league with 32 of them, survive with the kind of perceived divisiveness you describe.

I'm listening to Simmons and I just don't get it. If you didn't see Love's stat sheet but were listening to all of this stuff, you'd think the guy was averaging 10 and 5. Yet, I believe he's averaging 17 and 10? A third wheel on a team averaging 17/10...how are these numbers so colossally disappointing to people? Just because he averaged 26/13 or whatever last year as the single only option on a shit team?

I think Love has been hurt and less effective than he should be. I also think Blatt needs to learn how to use him correctly and it's frustrating. But reading and listening to these national guys, they are painting this picture of Love as this role player. How many role players average what Love is on the Cavs right now? How many "favors" would we all have performed to have a 17/10 guy during LBJ's first tenure here?

ESPiN and their anti-Cleveland agenda. That and/or jealousy of what we have.

It's hilarious.

Kevin Love is 32nd in the league in scoring. Do you know who else in the league has better numbers than him (meaning 17+ points and 10+ rebounds)?

5 guys. That's it.

Lamarcus Aldridge
Anthony Davis
DeMarcus Cousins
Nicola Vucevic
Pau Gasol

Kevin is achieving those numbers on nearly 3 less shot attempts per game than those other guys too.

...and this is a really bad season by his standards. So...

He is also the best three point shooter among those five, which helps spread the floor even when he doesn't touch the ball, and he is the best passer among those five. He is a very good player. We have plenty of offense, we don't need him to average 25 a night. I would like to see him hit his shots at a little better efficiency than he has this season, which may be related to his back problems. But if he continues to put up numbers in the 18/10/3 in the future at good efficiency I'll be happy with Love.

Agreed.

And I'm not even saying that he's been fantastic this year. He hasn't, not by his standards.

But if this is Bad Kevin Love, I can't wait to see Good Kevin Love.
