yeah, but you can't wait until the playoffs to develop that role...
That role has already been developed. He was the go-to-guy his whole career in Minnesota.
Realistically, our top 4 guys are all capable of going off for 30+ on their best nights. That is very scary for opposing teams. The important thing is for each player to play within the system, not worrying about the amount of touches they receive.
Come playoff time, it is truly going to be tough for teams to develop game plans on defense. IMO, that is where you might begin to see breakout games from both Love and Waiters. It's truly a pick your poison situation. You could argue that Lebron and KI are two of the best one-on-one players in the league offensively. They will be doubled teamed quite a bit allowing for someone to get open looks all day, even in the playoffs when the defensive intensity is turned up a notch.
This was never case for The Heat. Teams really didn't worry about Wade and Bosh, in regards to their shooting ability, until Bosh started draining threes on a regular basis. You rarely saw Bosh double-teamed the last four years. Wade never drew much defensive attention unless he was driving.
The Cavs are afforded the luxury of having 4 guys who can all stroke it from deep, allowing for a ton of mismatches to be created on the floor all over the place immediately. Coupled with Blatt's offensive prowess, the sky is the limit offensively for us this year, regardless of who is putting up the most points.
