Kirk Herbstreit agrees with me!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Right now long time season ticket holders are bowing out. It wouldn't suprise me to see the Browns target Smith just to generate some excitement around the team, and to keep the ticket sales up. This is the same reason they would be wise to court Jim Tressel. Would JT and/or Smith save the team? That I don't know, but it would generate some positive press in Ohio.

Keep ticket sales up?? They sell out almost every single game, if not every game.

One thing gets people in the seats, wins. Smith would not give this team wins. OL and DL would help a great deal on our way to wins.

Sell outs arent a problem but the attitude around this team is awful. Lose lose lose, maybe bringing a winner/heisman/nat champion will change things. Oh and a o/d line.

How do you figure he is going to be any good? Jason White was a QB and won the Heisman, Eric Crouch and Chris Weinke as well...winning the Heisman has little bearing on how well your going to turn out in the NFL, especially at the QB position. its not an award for "Best Future Pro" its an award for the Best College Player...

I worded that wrong. I should have said it would keep season ticket sales up. They make more money off season tickets than they do normal tickets b/c of seat licenses.

First off comparing Eric Crouch to Troy Smith is an awful comparison. Isnt Crouch the guy who ran the option, is he the guy that was drafted as a SAFETY. Come on bro, have you watched any of Ohio States games this year.

What, besides his height, leads you to beleive that he wont be good.

How do you figure anyone is going to be good in the pro's, you dont.

Just because the tickets are sold out, it doesn't mean they attend the games... I mean a lot of ticket holders don't go to games or fail to sell their tickets... So techinically they are sold out, but the attendance is up and down.

what makes you think he is going to be good? i havent heard to many analysists say that he is going to be a stud like Vince Young?

Attendance is tapering off a lot this year. They have a ton of no shows and a shitload of people leaving at half. It drives Randy insane, it is embarrassing, it also hurts his wallet when there aren't as many drunks buying $10 beers. Their season ticket sales will decline after this season, which is why I agree with Style's point. Drafting Smith would create much more excitement and help stop the erosion of season ticket holders...moreso than drafting a tackle. That said, I hope they draft a tackle.

Being only 6 foot.:chuckles:

Yea, but if your sole prupose for drafting Smith is to get fans an already filled stadium...that doesnt make much sense, Smith isnt going to help this team win games...so your kind of cutting off your nose despite your face.

James, i respect you as far as this site goes, but can you be any more clueless. This question is borderline moronic.

He won the damn heisman bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has 30 TD to what 5 picks, he is 28-2 as a starter. Hello, wake up and smell the coffee.

You didnt answer my question by the way, give me a reason besides his height that he wont succeed.

as i said before, the heisman isnt for the best NFL prospect, its for the best player. and his height is THE problem, a 5-11/6-0 come on man, he is a great player on the college level. why do you guys want to gas him to be some lebron-esque savior? it takes most QBs a while to get adjusted to the NFL game...even if he is drafted by the browns, it will be a painfull adjustment.

I think he will do fine in the NFL. Just not for the Browns because our o-line sucks. People say he is like Drew Bree's (same Height) and we all know how Drew Brees is doing this year. Give him a good o-line he will be great. Speed, Accuracy. He will do just fine. But he will get KILLED with the Browns right now and ruin is career.

And when you mention Brees, just think he is behind the center that we scrapped (Faine) because he supposedly sucked. He goes down there and looks solid now. We sign their all-pro center and he blows out his knee the first practice of training camp. People that say there isn't a black cloud over this franchise need their heads examined.
