Klay Thompson suffers concussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Regarding these bleeding ear posts...

If that blood was from his brain, that boy would be dead. That had to have been a gash inside his ear from the contact. I'm not sure the bloody ear would be a big factor in concussion protocol.

That's more a question than an answer. I can't fathom someone bleeding from the brain as a result of impact to the head and not dying or needing emergency surgery.

Yeah: bleeding was almost from a laceration. Head trauma can cause skull fractures where the diagnosis is delayed but the blood associated is trapped under the skin causing bruising not frank bleeding (i.e. Battle's sign: bruise behind the ear)

Different person, different sport, but Sidney Crosby missed a ton of time with concussion problems. So did that baseball player that I can't name at the moment.

Look at all the NFL lawsuits. This is serious stuff, and hopefully he is alright.

Golden State's medical staff is looking shady.
Klay Thompson (concussion-like symptoms) will be reevaluated by the Warriors' medical staff at his home on Thursday, and GM Bob Myers expects to have an update on his status sometime tomorrow.

So far, the Warriors have not officially labeled Thompson's condition as a concussion, but the reports so far have implied that's what he's dealing with. He'll have a full week to recover for the NBA Finals, and we'll be monitoring his status closely, with another update likely coming on Friday. Stay tuned.

Bleeding from the ear is one of the symptoms of a concussion. It doesn't mean the brain is bleeding. He blood comes from a skull fracture.

Perhaps that part of it was a laceration but given how he got injured he should have had a thorough evaluation before being sent back out here. There are conflicting reports in this.

Dizziness and vomiting are also concussion symptoms. They are also symptoms of an inner ear issue.

I can rule out an inner ear issue. If the head trauma results in a temporal bone fracture, then you could have inner ear issues as well as the blood. If the rattling of the head caused enough damage to create an inner ear issue resulting in true vestibular (balance) problems, he would not likely be back for the finals. Some forms of vestibular weaknesses can be alleviated with very basic physical therapy, like the Epley maneuver. It's likely a concussion as well as a laceration of the outer ear. Repeated head trauma and concussion often due result in long term balance issues later in life.

Here we go again. Golden State refusing to call it a concussion. The NBA had better be coming down hard on that franchise for this shitshow.

This isn't emails saying that someone has too much african in them. This is your reigning MVP and his backcourt mate both suffering what's more than likely mild to major concussions and calling them contusions. These are peoples' lives that medical staff is playing around with.

I'd be shocked to see GS get a decent FA after this.

The best part is I'm sure it'll just be the medical staff that gets the hit for this, but I'm 100% certain these are mandates from the ownership group to keep these concussions under wraps.

Seriously. But i'm sure they'll realize not to mess around with it when Klay hits his head again in game 1 and their 70 million dollar SG's career is over.

If he's not 100% symptom free from the concussion, then he won't be cleared. So he has to be 100%.

Curry's injury was different because he showed no symptoms after the fall or after the game. Thompson apparently did.

Doesn't matter to me though because I want Golden State at full strength.

I'll take a championship however I can get one. I would never attach an asterisk to a Cleveland title, no matter what.

Cant post twitter from work, however, reports are no concussion per Sam Amick

No concussion. He was just throwing up and dizzy after the game...

This is beyond ridiculous. I hope that one of them doesn't get laid out in the Finals and ends up with serious damage because of the Warriors incompetence.

If one of Curry or Thompson gets hit in the head and goes out for the series against us, we're going to be the ones scrutinized, not the shitty medical staff for the Warriors. We're the punching bag of the NBA.
