LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because I've been one of his biggest critics, even prior to The Decision (I've lost count of how many times I've called him "Le"-Something when all pleas have run out), I feel like I need to say this:

Thank you, LeBron.

Though opting out each offseason is likely going to be your "get back" for The Letter, and all of your fans back on the bandwagon like they never left during 4 years of losing is about as enjoyable as watching Brady Quinn masquerade as a starting QB, and I really hated "Chill Mode"... the level of sacrifice and grace needed to even ATTEMPT that storybook ending can't go unrecognized. I'm glad that for the first time, I'm really optimistic about the future of a team I've been rooting for the majority of my life on Earth.

(PS - thanks Clippers for allowing us to draft Kyrie. That really was the clincher, IMO)

With Dan dropping a Brinks truck on this roster that went 33-3 post trade, Lebron should play over 30 minutes rarely. Have to extend his peak starting this season. This team can win 65 games with Lebron playing 30, Kyrie and Love playing 34 mpg.

This is a multiple championship roster on lock down.

We didn't look like a 33-3 team when Lebron wasn't on the court.

Did we ever find out what lebron s "hidden Motivation" was during the Finals?

Lebron has already reportedly told team mates he intends to shoot less next year. I can see him chasing efficiency like he did in Miami. This year he tried to play himself into shape and out of a shooting slump, whilst trying to control his coach and everyone else. Hopefully next year he will just play the game
That would be cool. Also should give us the opportunity for Love to get more touches and be a more focal point of the offense. Same with Ky but he gets his shots.

Maximizing Love's talent/production while making LeBron more efficient and rested could make us a much better team (and should bode well for the playoffs).

Yes. He posted on social media that he wants to win for the fans and his kids (or all kids?).

Without Kyrie, there's no LeBron or Kevin Love coming to Cleveland.

Most people forget that we lost Anthony Davis to a coin-flip. That would have solidified 5 championships, and LeBron would have requested Miami trade him back here immediately.

Truer words have never been spoken Claw! Damn! It's unfathomable that this is actually real! Prolonged positive outlook! This is EVERYTHING we've waited for. You can't ask to set yourself up any better than where we're sitting. Hats off to Griffin. Grant collected the assets, Griffin cashed them the fuck out and did exactly what you're supposed to do!

God, I remember thinking Mike Bibby, Amare Stoudemire were going to come in here and save the franchise. I remember thinking the 13 million dollar expiring of Wally Sczcerbiak was going to fetch us a considerable return..... All of that was hogwash. We were hoping Anthony Bennett turned into Grandmama.... Fuck did that suck!

This is the real deal! This is about as true and potent as when the Atlanta Braves pitching stable was stocked with Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz (oh dang!) as their big 3.

We've got the fucking real deal, the triple decker.

It's like that Wendy's burger...... The hot juicy double is quite satisfying, but once you add that 3rd patty and go fo that triple it becomes a whole 'nother reality.

I don't remember Kurt Schilling pitching with Maddux and Glavine, but I do remember John Schmoltz ;)

Steve Avery was no slouch either.

I'm tired of seeing reports that LeBron is "signing a 1-year deal to force the owner's hand" or "he's going to be last to sign to make sure they take care of his guys". A bunch of baloney...

I think that has very little to do with why LeBron will sign a 2-year contract this year (with 2nd being player option). It sounds cool that he's "forcing the owner's hand" but, trust me, Dan Gilbert doesn't need LeBron James to tell him to spend money. The guy took on $28 million of Baron Davis' salary in order to get the draft pick that became Kyrie Irving(with no idea the pick would be that valuable). LeBron James wasn't here then. Gilbert spends money to win, period.

LeBron will sign the 1+1 contract this year for 2 reasons:

1) He'd rather get 35% of a much larger salary cap when he does sign long-term. As in, he'd rather his contract be worth 10s of millions more.

2) He would screw himself by signing a long-term contract right now even if the salary cap wasn't going up. The Cavs don't have his Bird rights and will be using the non-Bird exception to sign him. This means that he can only get 4.5% increases rather than 7.5% increases that he'd get under a Bird contract (that's like a mil/yr). The Cavs can still go over the cap to re-sign him to up to 120% of last year's salary (so, this year's max). However, a long-term max contract for him won't be worth it's full value until the 2017 offseason (has to not change teams as a FA for 3 years).

Expect him to sign a 5-yr max deal in 2017 that will start at about $35.6mil(assuming $108 mil cap) and will be worth over $204 million. He could re-sign long-term in 2016 with Early Bird rights and still get 7.5% increases but he could only get 4 years then. I think he'll hold out until 2017 so he can get the 5yrs/$204M deal that will have him signed here.

Here's what that 2017 extension would look like.

Well, here's some insight I've heard... Once Lebron reaches his personal goal in the NBA, he wants to have the freedom given to him to give the NFL a shot.

That personal goal better be winning Cleveland a championship(s).

How is that a “hidden” motivation? Everyone already knew that since last summer. :chuckle:

Why would LeBron demand a trade back to Cleveland when his team just won the championship and were the favorites to win it the following year?

But overall I like your post! :celb (23):
