Luol Deng

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a feeling even if the Cavs go off on a 5 game winning streak people will complain Deng is being misused by Brown in hiis first five games. I hope people give the guys some time to gel on the court and get used to each other.

He's not an interior presence like a center. Deng is fantastic off the ball, and works well with ball-dominant guards. We won't have to change any of our offensive or defensive sets to integrate him.
Even if he starts by taking over the roles Clark/Gee were supposed to do, (obviously Deng is capable of much more than that), we should see immediate results.
This is as much of a plug & play move as you can get.

I cannot wait for the game Friday night.

"Steve Luhm: Sounds like Luol Deng will play his first game with the Cavs on Friday night in Utah. Good storyline"

The matchup of the year!!!! Luol Deng vs RICHARD JEFFERSON!

Let's hope Deng's first game goes better than Jamison's was :chuckles:

That was the first time I got scared about that team. Everything had been pretty good until Jamison came aboard. I was for it, but man I was dead wrong. Everyone talked about Shaq, but Jamison getting punked by Garnett lost us that series.

didn't jamison go like 1-12 in his first game here? wasn't it also agaist the bobcats too if I recall?

Don't know exact shooting numbers, but it wasn't just the fact that he was shooting bad...it was the fact that he was missing shots terribly. Airballs, clunkers, not even close.

This is good. Very good. I don't think there are any teams who will offer Luol a MAX deal. Lets get him signed up for 4 years, $44-48 million. If he plays well right off the bat, lets even pitch him on an extension before FA for 3 years at $39. Give him a little more to have the certainty of him here long term and having one less year on the contract.

Same here. It's crazy in hindsight how much that Jamison trade changed the on-court chemistry for the worse. He never fit in with Brown's system.
The 2009 team was near perfection, in comparison.

This is indeed fantastic news.
I know some people don't want to sign him to an extension during the season to leave as much cap room open for LeBron, but if we can get Deng to agree to an extension for $11-13 million per year, that actually saves us cap space...because currently the cap hold we have on him is $20 million.

Deng could very well come in and thrive from Day 1. at the same time its a learning process.
