Luol Deng

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Deng on his first time with the Cavs today: "I think I was more amazed by the facility than anything."

Lots of positive vibes on twitter about our chances to resign him!

I liked how he wasn't like most players, just super calculated and boring. He seemed very personable and honest to me, which is refreshing.

He even mentioned in the interview that he would be open to beginning extension conversations. He sounds excited to become a leader on this young team and achieve big things. As advertised; well-spoken and the type of guy we want our young core to learn from.

Funny guy.

man, great interview

dude's such a likable guy, he seems happy just to be playing basketball

This is good. Very good. I don't think there are any teams who will offer Luol a MAX deal. Lets get him signed up for 4 years, $44-48 million. If he plays well right off the bat, lets even pitch him on an extension before FA for 3 years at $39. Give him a little more to have the certainty of him here long term and having one less year on the contract.

we can't offer an extension to a player we traded for until 6 months after the trade, so we have to wait until he's a free agent to sign him beyond this year.

Damn, he is really likable first time I really listened to him talk.

Anyone want to count the "you knows", could go right up there with Dion's AYEEEEEEEEEEE

It would have been awesome if the Cavs could have found a way to get Kirk Hinrich part of the deal too. Hearing the Warriors have expressed interest. Adding Hinrich's gritty defensive play along side Kyrie at the 2 guard, along with his ability to hit outside shots, and even run the offense for the team would have been awesome. The price might have been too steep for both though.

Where are you finding that? I looked on Larry Coon's site and found this:

"If the player agrees to waive a portion of his trade bonus in order to facilitate a trade, his contract may not be extended for six months following the trade."

But I couldn't find general language about a 6-month prevention on extensions. I doubt Deng would have waived any trade bonus.
