Manny Harris

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

Harangody is getting minutes though. Seems like Scott likes him for some reason. He boxes out better than the other bigs.

I was hoping it was more because of injuries to Andy and TT and the complete ineptitude of Hollins. Harangody is just gawd awful. He can't finish, jump, or make an outside shot(though it doesn't seem to stop him from jacking them up from all over the court). He does try and battle inside, but I just find myself cringing and wanting to throw shit at my tv.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

They could pick Manny up after Ben's 10 day contract is up, which is Sunday. Curious to see how that plays out.

I think the bottom line is none of these guys are really impactful NBA players and thats why we're not doing much with any of them.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

Role of an end of the bench guy is to not cause problems, not freeze his foot off, help fill out a practice team, and be ready to play if someone goes down, someone gets in to penalty trouble, it looks like he might actually contribute in a certain situation, we have garbage time, or run in to tough part of the schedule where we need more bodies.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

I like Manny but I have always sensed that Byron Scott was not a Manny Harris fan. I assume Scott sees something he doesn't like in Manny's game. Yet, the Cavaliers asked Manny to go to Canton so that they could see how he was developing. The Cavs didn't do that just for the heck of it. They must have seen some promise in Manny. Otherwise, they would have told him to hit the road.

Manny isn't the second coming of MJ. We all know that. But, he did average over 11 ppg as a starter last season with 3 games of 20 points or better including a season high of 27. There are a number of wing players on this team with lesser credentials. Seems to me he deserves another look. More importantly, the Cavs need to know one way or the other if Manny figures into the team's future roster planning. If not, why keep him around in Canton.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

Still needs to be repeated:

That may be so, but the Cavs can't because.

Manny Harris
is
not
under
contract
with
the
Cavs.

is this a running joke, or are people really not getting this?

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

Still needs to be repeated:

Why does it need repeating? Is there any reason whatsoever that we need to see what Luke Harangody's spot on the roster will give us. This season needs to be spent uncovering every stone possible. Luke's has been turned over, and guess what? Ain't shit but mud and snails underneath it. The same cannot be said about Manny yet. the kid has potential. If anyone can tap, I would place a bet our HC can. Why not give it a looksie, eh? I mean, are we really worried about "sacrificing" 450k of Luke's contract? Gilbert wouldn't even blink.

that wasn't the point of my post, at all.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

i'd rather have uzoh than manny i think, and i'm a manny fan.

actually i'd just rather have both of them. cut hollins, cut harangody.

Ya, I can roll with that. Hollins actually pisses me off more than Harangody. Hollins at least shows some form of athleticism you'd like to see from a pro athlete...yet he has no clue what the hell to do with it. Annoys the living shit out of me. These two boneheads have already exhibited everything we need to see/know about them. Would love if we cut bait.

because as it stands, we have no ties to manny harris. he plays for an NBADL team and he as no contract with the cavaliers. so it's not like we are "keeping him around" in canton.

but i don't disagree with you on his talent.

also rich people do blink at 450k, i would know because i'm rich.

unfortunately being an athletic 7 footer is enough to keep you on this roster....

I don't know you from a hole in the wall, but I do know you're not Dan Gilbert rich. Gilbert is not worried about eating that contract if it means a possible future role player. And I know we don't have him under contract, but we could...right now...pick up the phone and tell him to get his ass here and he'd be here.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

I think we all understand that the Cavs have no contractual connection to Manny. But he was asked by the Cavs to go to Canton so that the front office could keep tabs on his development. This is not something new in the NBA. The Spurs do it all the time. Canton uses the same system as the Cavs making it easier to judge how a player will fit in with the parent club. If the Cavs want Manny back, it is pretty simple. Bring him back on a 10-day contract or on a standard NBA contract.

Re: Manny Harris gains steam down in Canton

As long as AV and Erden both have wrist damage, Cavs aren't letting go of either Hollins or Harangody, no matter how bad they suck. Uzoh has sniffed the floor in garbage time, but I see less value in him going forward unless we trade Ramon. I think Harris/Gee run circles around Parker/Casspi, so signing manny to a ten day would make sense if it weren't for the big situation.
