Re: Matt Barnes Watch 2009

Not so interesting tweet seeing that we already heard Windy say this.

From Nba Rumors News twitter
Brian Windhorst on ESPN Cleveland radio claims Matt Barnes wants to be a cav. (thanks 2 @11bbarney)

Re: Matt Barnes Watch 2009

Barnes would be an extremely low-risk signing. If he can't defend or shoot, that's fine; I can't imagine Ferry would throw very much money or very many years at him. Danny seems to have learned from his initial follies in free agency. And, if Barnes isn't signed by Cleveland, it is not the end of the world. Cleveland has better players and size at the 2/3 than last year by the virtue of replacing Sasha with Parker and drafting Green.

Re: Matt Barnes Watch 2009

I'd rather go after Kleiza, Barnes is an awful defender, he has the look of a defensive specialist but he couldn't guard his own shadow, he's too slow to defend most SFs and far too weak to defend PFs. Not that Kleiza is Ron Artest but at the very least he has more potential on both sides of the ball, and at 250lbs he can spend some time at PF.

Re: Matt Barnes Watch 2009

The Cavs don't have a shot at Kleiza. Denver's qualifying offer is just as much (or maybe slightly more) than what the Cavs can offer with the rest of the MLE - $3.2M. He's better suited to accept the qualifying and then become a free agent next year.

Their QO is only 2.7 mil.

Re: Matt Barnes Watch 2009

And the Cavs could offer, say, slightly over $10m for three years. The assumption is that the Nuggets would match this sort of offer, given their QO of $2.7. Denver has said very little about Kleiza, but they were in the running for Channing Frye, which might say something about their commitment to Kleiza. Denver is also mentioned in connection with Big Baby, as are the Cavs, but it's hard to see how that works out for either team. We've had very little good reporting suggesting the Cavs are particularly interested in Kleiza though. Mostly seems to be national speculation.

Hopefully Ferry acts soon, cause Barnes won´t wait forever. If he goes to Orlando it will sting us.

I'm sure missing out on a career 33% three point shooting 9th-10th man is really going to sting us one way or the other.

Although I would like to get Barnes for purely depth reasons, losing him won't sting us.

1) LeBron
2) Shaq
3) Mo
4) West
5) AV
6) Z
7) Parker
8) Gibson

At the highest, Barnes would be the 8th man off the bench if he can play better than Gibson but Gibson shoots way better than he does. Yes, Barnes would be a good bench player but I think our main bench is set. Unless its via trade, no player in free agency is going to make an impact on the team.
