Matt Laporta Called Up

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Isn't the "centerpiece" of the Lee deal a guy who is in Single A? I mean sure a solid catching prospect and infield prospect who are almost major league ready is fun, and all...but I don't think they do that deal if Knapp, a Single A prospect, isnt in it.

But if Drabek (Double-A) was in the deal it would have been totally different, or at least thats who we "had" to get around the deadline.

Yes, it would have been, but we didn't get him and I would have liked to.

It's funny though, I mean they rate these prospects and the shit changes every year. I mean look even at our own Carlos Santana, didn't he take a huge leap to the top of the charts this year? He was a good prospect when we got him and now he's like a top prospect in the entire minor leagues.

Prospect is a prospect.. Doesn't matter if he's a stud double A guy or Single A guy... Bottom line remains the same, they're not producing for the big club... So in the end, it doesn't really matter either way..

Maybe we should have kept Lee, finish in 4th next season and get nothing in return when he left in FA, that seems like a better option.

Trade him this off season instead if nobody was putting up good enough prospects. No guarantee you'd get a better offer but there is a chance still.

I doubt it.. Teams would much rather get two pennant runs with him than one..

The value would have went down significantly... The only chance you have of getting more would just be from the angle of having more teams in the running from the start perhaps.. However, I just don't see teams lining up to hand over their best prospects for a 1 year rental... Those days are fading away..

For goodness sakes, the Sox were not going to include Bucholz in a deal for Lee straight up, that was only for the package deal of Lee and VMart... I like Bucholz, but he's already 25 years old, and if you can't get him in a deal for Lee w/ 2 pennant runs in him, I just don't see the reason to hold on to him and get less... Plus, you also run the risk of him getting hurt at some point, and then you're really screwed...

I don't like Buchholz much, I thought most of us agreed he's pretty overrated. Agreed one the "getting hurt" part.

Guess if the days of getting top prospects for All Stars are gone, then. If so, the Indians might be screwed since their entire game plan is based around trading their players for prospects. (along with a lot of other teams)

There is a chance nobody would put up a better offer, no guarantee you wouldn't but there is a chance still.

You'd complain either why....so what the fuck's the point?

If you're here to be a prick and not discuss just go back to coaching your son on how to catch a football. The double standard you put off is fucking ridiculous. People who are extremely displeased with the trade and how the Tribe is operating are not allowed to post how upset they are yet douche bags like yourself are allowed to defend everything they do to the death. Please, spare us.

What? Am I wrong? You wouldn't argue this team should have traded him in July if they would have got lowballed in January?

Please, every single post of yours regarding the Browns or Cavs just exudes the same douchebaggy traits from the negative side...are you really going to have the pot-kettle discussion?

There is a difference between having a differing opinion and taking the opposite of everything the team does just because you're pissed they aren't winning right now.

People who claim to be realists? Give me a freaking break....

Didn't I say there was a chance we wouldn't have gotten more for him, but that it was worth a shot? Sounds pretty fair to me. I recognized that I could have been wrong but would have liked to see the Tribe take a different route.

You got a lot of nerve calling other people douche bags, Mrs Edwards. Come on, now. You defend this Tribe brass practically with your life. Why is that?

Why was it worth a shot?

If we got more? What if more teams wanted to get involved? Might be worth it yea?

edit: nm forgot we got Lou Marson. How could I forget?

So...if we didn't get more...then what?

I mean mother of God...Lou Marson? A major league backup at worst by damn near anyone who's ever covered him? Oh the humanity...I don't know how people get to sleep at night.

Here I thought the deal for Kershaw and Matt Kemp was going through....

If Marson ends up being the catcher over Santana I don't think we're well off. It just further logjams a stacked position of ours.
