Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
With how dehydrated he was, that easily could have been a harsh injury when Lee slammed into him. He knew he wasn't getting the ball, he was leading with the hip on that one.

It seems like it's going to be the norm for Delly. Start off real slow offensively, take shots where we all are like :disdain (9):. But then when he starts to pick it up :hsughr:. I think I was literally doing that in the bar last night.

It's probably been posted already, but, damn, that is how you go after a lose ball in the NBA Finals!

You know, how is it that having Lee's fat ass plonked on you like a sofa is not 'dirty'? Doesn't fit the narrative?

Everybody loves a good joke, but are these memes taking it too far?

Matthew Dellavedova has experienced a rise in fame unlike any other player in this NBA Finals.

He helped close out the series against the Bulls with 19 points in Game 6 when Kyrie Irving went off injured. Then he saw even more minutes in the conference finals against the Hawks when Irving was ruled out for the entire series, scoring 11, 17 and 10 points in Games 2-4respectively.

After Irving went down in overtime of Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Warriors, it became Delly time. The Australian-born player has been playing stingy defense and diving for loose balls to give the Cavs an edge. Then he blew up for 20 points while helping the Cavs win Game 3, leading the internet to have a field day creating memes about him.

But is it really fair to bring Steph Curry’s wife, Ayesha, daughter, Riley, and dad, Dell, into things?

Yeah, I don't like this. The Cavs haven't won shit yet, and this is like inviting the BBall gods to strike us down.

An eloquently written excerpt from The Washington Post article:

The funny thing about Dellavedova replacing Irving is that if you watched them in isolation, you might not be able to detect they are playing the same position, or perhaps the same sport. Irving moves with a dancer’s elegance and shoots with an assassin’s cool. His effort is there, but it is unseen, not felt. Effort emanates from Dellavedova like stench lines off a cartoon character. He’s not good enough to try hard without you feeling every strain. The game comes to Irving. Dellavedova bangs on the game’s door, demanding to be let in, and when he’s not he throws a rock through a side window instead.

I'm just thankful the media has something to complain about. I had the spiteful, negative members in my prayers on Sunday. How can they do their jobs with Delly out there? Who can write a proper article with this undrafted Aussie Rocky Balboa guy screwing everything up?

God has given them something to write about, and all the money I've spent on holy water and candles for the spiteful media was well spent.

No. The yell (spelling help) he did after dunks or and 1's is Yiddish for "trade me".

I thought it was like "AYE" but Google translator said it is/was "a mir"?

Dion would yell "AND ONE", meaning he thought he was fouled on the play and should be receiving one FT attempt if he made the shot.

Maybe my favorite thing about Dion.

Dang. That's exactly what I was going to say. Lee's trying to hurt Delly.

First post! I'm an American living in Australia and I can tell you why Delly plays like his life depends on it day in day out. It's the culture that these Australians have. He aptly put it that Aussies don't like being put on pedestals, and you can see that from the sports they follow.

He played "Australian Rules Football". It's a sport where a massive 18 players per team are on a huge ~700 foot long stadium and no player can individually carry. Big team sport. Because of this, you often get players who post little to no numbers but provide a very important piece of the team puzzle that help them win. I believe Delly gets his game plan from his background in Aussie Rules - he's willing to play ugly, get no recognition as long as it helps the team win.

P.S. I've fallen in love with the sport here, it's the toughest thing I've ever seen. This is where Delly gets his hustle and grit from. Check out some of these insane hits this sport has. The players aren't beefcakes who can take hits - they're built for endurance, yet they dish out huge hits with no padding. Massive respect.

Mods, how to embed?

I couldn't even watch this whole video, because the traumatic brain injuries were too obvious. Player after player hit in the head and going into convulsions right on the field...those are the kind of injuries they will take with them their entire life.

I'll take basketball and the occasional knee injury, thanks...

Believe it or not, almost every single player hit in that video still plays every single week! This is modern era hits and not one of them has retired after being floored. Amazing stuff! They're freaking made of steel.

Referring to some previous posts and you know who you are! Have some class gents. Sorry but there is a line. Some of you guys have crossed it. Yeah its fun to win. However, this bloke curry has done nothing wrong and he is a family man. Give it a rest boys, have a dig but some of this is going a bit far.

This may take the cake.....the Wall Street Journal can't understand why there was no mention of Dellavedova's breakout 20 point performance in any Australian newspapers on Wednesday. It would have been a truly remarkable use of a clairvoyant journalism considering the game started at 11am on fucking Wednesday here in Sydney.
It was, however, headlined on every Australian media and news website.
And the chick on Sky News here in Oz who called him Delladova is not Robinson Crusoe. Half of ESPN and TNT have been doing it all post season. And basketball is their job.
Delly is getting plenty of love over here.......
