Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Since that's the game you want to play...

Norris Cole:
WCF Game 3 - 0 assists
Finals Game 2 - 0 assists
Finals Game 5 - 0 assists
Finals Game 6 - 0 assists
I'm not playing a game. Just showing that Keys' criticism can also be applied to Delly.

What point are you making? That Cole isn't good enough to get them to the finals? Agreed!

You identified Dellavadova's four weaker games out of 20 total that he played, 14 wins and 6 losses, and he accumulated 7 total assists. Norris Cole played 4 total games in the playoffs, all losses, and totaled 7 assists. If you proposed this study in a statistics course, your professor would immediately call it a false negative due to misleading sample size and a shockingly biased comparison. I really can't bother to go any further into detail on such a poorly executed statistical comparison.

Nope! Not making the comparison between them at all and I didn't even bring Cole up. You did! I don't think Cole is very good.

How about my previous post, which had a link ranking the difference in opponent FG% when guarded by a player? What would my professor say about that?

Here was your statistical comparison. I no longer believe we are having a productive discussion in good faith.

So this guy expects Delly, an undrafted, 2nd year, back-up PG to out play Wall (a #1 pick), MCW (Rookie of the Year), Evans (Rookie of the Year), Cole (meh), Chris fucking Paul, Steph fucking Curry, and All-Star Jeff Teague?

You didn't stop responding the moment he posted that?

Care to participate in the discussion? Come on board. Keys said Delly put on a defensive performance for the ages and "I really do struggle to think of active elite point guard defenders who achieved more than Delly in the playoffs." I then refreshed his memory by showing a bunch of guys who were more impact defenders in terms of holding their opponent to a lower FG% than they normally shoot. Up to speed now?

This is like watching Titanic. We all know it's sinking but god damn you're trying hard to keep it afloat Nate.
Norris Cole couldn't wipe Dellys shoes on D, and his good year came in the Heats dynasty. The other players you named are on 7,8 million+ contracts. The fact you labelled Delly (a backup) in a sentence comparing him to Curry, Evans, Wall and Jeff Teague is the exact reason he'll get paid 3-4 mill. He held his own for 16 of the 20 playoff games playing as a starter in the ECF and finals for Christ sake. Imagine how much better he'll be as an impact player with fresh legs to hussle every night.

It's like people get so caught up in stats they forget to use their eyes and watch the actual impact a player is having on the game.

he shot 36% for the season and 34% in the playoffs. He graded out as only slightly above average defensively. He did well on Curry for 2 games. He got manhandled by Klay and Livingston when he got matched up with them. He gets exposed the more he more minutes. Everyone should know that. The stats match up with what most people around the NBA see, a 3rd pg. LBJ is not as effective bringing the ball up, so at this point, Kyrie is the only other ball handler on the team. You need someone that can create or at least get the offense set while Kyrie is on the bench. Delly struggles with that. Which is the reason why the Cavs have been looking for an upgrade.
