MLB - Trade Rumors and Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's pretty much grand theft by LA.

They traded a 28 year old pitcher, who's only made 16 MLB starts (2-8), for a 28 year old 3rd baseman with a lifetime .300 average.

Ramirez certainly comes with some baggage but in terms of talent, this was a homerun for the Dodgers. Got an all-star caliber player for a below average starter and a player to be named later.
They got him for cheap because they were willing to take on his entire contract, something most teams aren't willing to do.

Eovaldi is a pretty good young pitcher. He's 22 years old, not 28 as someone mentioned earlier. He also just developed a pretty solid cutter to add to his arsenal and many thought he was primed to take the next step. Pitched much better than his record shows, the offense is averaging 1.44 runs per game in his starts.

He should do well in Miami.

I trade anyone and any amount of prospects to get Stanton. Give them Lindor.

Not me. I love Stanton but I don't give up my best prospect for a guy having knee issues/surgery at age 22.

Shane Victorino looks to be moved for an RP...
asked for Brad Lincoln+ from the Pirates
and Logan Ondrusek from the Reds.

not sure If I want to get on board with Victorino, but I am surprised a younger BP arm is all it looks to take.

You have to ask yourself, what does Victorino bring to the table that Damon doesn't?

Victorino has really fell off the table this season, a .702 OPS

Damon, after a slow start, has posted a .739 OPS since June 1

While I think Victorino is better than he's shown, he's also a player who isn't going to make enough of an impact to change this team's fortune. He's a nice complimentary player, but that's not what the Indians are lacking at this point IMO.

Easy, he's 5-9 170 pound 26-year-old in Double-A with two pitches.

Not exactly prospect material.

Easily the best post of this thread.

Wasn't it just a week ago that mark Shapiro was sayin the trade market was slow due to new compensation rules? Yeah mark, the market sure looks slow to me. What a joke, in still baffled at the Brent lillibridge move. Will this team ever take winning seriously?

You're baffled at a minor trade for a utility man?

....right

Making a ridiculous trade when you can't even be sure this team will be in contention three weeks from now is not a commitment to winning...

The Dodgers got Ramirez cheap because Ramirez is sliding downhill and is still owed 30m over the next two years. That is alot of money to pay for a guy whose bat is league-average right now and adds nothing defensively for a team. He had every reason and resource to come back this year and be a star- instead, he is the same player he was last year. He is not in good shape and looks like he doesn't care. Visions of Carlos Baerga's sudden dropoff at about the same age come to mind.

If Hanley can somehow find that fire and put in the work to get in shape, then the Dodgers made a fine deal. But if he simply stays as is, let alone slides further, it was a waste of money and a couple solid prospects.

As for Stanton, yes, it would take far more than Lindor to get him. With the depth the team has at SS and 2B in the minors, I think the club can use that to fill holes at the bigleague level. Stanton might be too expensive for a deal like that, however.

use that to fill holes
