I am unclear on how the fuck any male could seriously CRY in the workplace. I'm not even certain what it would take for me to cry in an office setting. Even if someone told me my wife or son died on the spot, I still wouldn't cry in the office. I'd be in shock for longer than it would take me to gtfo of the office.

I've been infuriated in the office before, but wouldn't have shown it. Working from home, I'll yell at people if they fuck up and if things go really horribly wrong I'll punch my desk. But I've never even been CLOSE to getting emotional.

Can we take a gander as to what kind of things would make grown men cry in the workplace?

Assuming we discount the military, police or other vocations where death occurs on the reg, and the man isn't a weepy bitch, I'd say maybe a stockbroker caught engaging in insider trading?

Too many Molly-coddled folks. Amazon isn't the greatest place to work but anyone that works at a job that doesn't involve life and death shouldn't get so stressed out over things.

Quitting or being "culled" isn't the end of the world.

I totally get what you are saying from the perspective that they do have a choice to quit and they do not - So it is on them. But, My questions is - Isn't this America where the worker conditions are supposed to be better? I understand if it is something like in the security, Health and other emergency services where hyper vigilance and excessive workhours sometimes become a way of life and is normal in jobs - But this is retail!

That is hardly a reason for someone to work nightmare hours! Plus some of what I read although isolated seem like a form of exploitation.

A former human resources executive said she was required to put a woman who had recently returned after undergoing serious surgery, and another who had just had a stillborn child, on performance improvement plans, accounts that were corroborated by a co-worker still at Amazon. “What kind of company do we want to be?” the executive recalled asking her bosses.

The mother of the stillborn child soon left Amazon. “I had just experienced the most devastating event in my life,” the woman recalled via email, only to be told her performance would be monitored “to make sure my focus stayed on my job.”


How is this even legal - This sounds like border line abuse if i understand it as i read it. It sounds like in teams where the going is good and there isnt this pressure or have people who relish and enjoy this- It is great but for the rest of us- It is a nightmare scenario. I thought we have rules and laws that are mandated by govt about worker conditions and work environment but after reading this i am beginning to question it.

You're hearing just one side. We have no idea for how long there had been performance issues, what they had done wrong, etc.. And it generally isn't illegal to treat employees who have returned from a medical leave the same as everyone else. You just can't punish them because they just returned from FMLA leave.

Very true - But If that were true then Cant Amazon sue for defamation ? This is pretty damning stuff. It made Jeff Bezos angry so I dont see a reason why he would not want to sue right?

If companies sued everytime someone, somewhere said something bad about their job or their boss, they'd waste gigantic amounts of money, they'd be in court a lot more than they are now, and they'd be suing people with very little money.

It's just not worth it.
 
Reposting this. We are extremely short on people. Just hired 11 and need another 15 more. Its hot as balls right now in there. But you can make a shit ton of money with the overtime.

We are looking for Machine operators and tow motor (fork lift) drivers. Machine Operators start at $12/hr. We have full medical/dental and 401k benefits. Bring a Resume if possible.
I've worked at Plastipak for 27 years. We make various kinds of plastic bottles. Its a factory job, hot in the summer, somewhat cold in the winter. Is it a "great" place to work, no. But if you can pass a drug test and are willing to work the hours you can make good money. Mechanical skills are helpful but not necessary, common sense is must. We have openings mainly on 2nd and 3rd shifts, and offer shift premiums for those shifts. In 6 months you could be up around $13/hr.
