I don't know Chris Haynes. For the most part this season, I think he has done a reasonably decent job. And of the three NEOMG reporters on the Cavs beat, he's far and away the most readable.
Having said that, this absolutely reeks of "Hey, Dan Shaughnessy got a bunch of cheap hits for the Globe by insulting Cleveland, so let's try to do the same thing by going after Boston fans," right down to the click-baity tweet.
I had to read the article after you post, and I don't really agree with you. I enjoyed the insight into how those entitled, arrogant fans were acting.. I haven't seen that reported anywhere else. Remember, Chris Haynes was.. *gasp*.. actually AT THE GAME he was reporting on - unlike Danny Shitcock who likely has never stepped foot in Cleveland.
The headline might have been a bit of clickbait.. but the article was worthwhile and factual as far as I could tell. Fuck Boston fans.. no matter what happens the rest of the playoffs, it's been fun dominating those entitled assholes.
I went back and read this again. The article itself isn't quite as bad as I thought on my first read, but I still don't like the tweet, and the "stink, stank, stunk" and "enjoy your final game on Sunday" seemed a bit over the top.
Also, does anybody really believe this:
Maybe if James wasn't constantly told throughout the game about how much of a wreck he is, he may have coasted and the Celtics could have potentially made the series interesting.
A nice, sweet-looking young lady screamed, "LeBron's a b****," from the top of her lungs, and then she looked around to see everyone's response with an innocent-looking grin on her face.
This is a pretty good description of how LBJ responds to hostile crowds, too. He just thrives on the boos from the crowd- we saw this when he returned to Cleveland with the Heat VS when Miami gave him a tribute and his play was lackluster against them. Definitely not groundbreaking news, but NEOMG needs all the praise they can get, so I'll give them some credit for accurately describing this situation. In the third quarter as James continued to dominate, sensing their verbal jabs were ineffective, a man who appeared to be in his mid-40s stood up and yelled, "All right, we need to shut the hell up now."
Those were words of wisdom, but it was too late. James was already in a groove.
Celtics fans are a passionate and sophisticated bunch, but they allowed their emotions and hatred/fear of James to get the best of them. You don't wake a sleeping giant. You let him be. In the end, they ate those words.
Since the subject of Allie Clifton came up, I keep hoping no one on the national level notices her. She's awesome. She's obviously hot, but she knows her shit and the players all respect her. It's only a matter of time till she gets noticed on a bigger scale.
Larry Bird and Kevin McHale aren't walking through that tunnel. Boston isn't equipped with the personnel to back up such verbal punches dished out by the fans.
So a few immortal words from Dr. Seuss: The three words that best describe Celtic fans' methods on Thursday are as follows and I quote: Stink. Stank. Stunk.
Boston, enjoy your final game on Sunday.
And fortunately we're in the playoffs. I know TNT uses a lot of RSN reporters from various teams during the 1st round since their numbers aren't as large as ESPN. Molly Sullivan from Philly, Jaime Maggio from the Lakers, and even some PBP announcers like Joel Myers who works for the Hornets.
Allie really is great. I remember one of the FSO games going against TNT who had Allie LaForce. Clifton is so much better of a reporter/interviewer when it comes to hoops.
I don't like Hayes all that much, especially after his hackish Blatt/rookie coach hot takes. Fuck outta here with that nonsense. This is a solid read, however.
It does get a bit of a jab in at the end, though, with this... Not as bad as ShaunHennessey. That fucker criticized the confetti drop. Happens all the time. Do research you hack.
Agreed. I like her more than Mrs. Joe Smith.
