Official Rock / Indie / Alternate Music Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
HEY!!!

I was at the June 07 show down in the flats at the Amphitheater. Is that the one you made it too?

:D

The one and the same. If there's a good show in Cleveland I'm there nine times out of ten. I've even branched out to the rest of Ohio, Detroit, and Pittsburgh. I've got the Yeah Yeah Yeahs this week in Columbus and The Roots in June on the concert calender. I swear I'm an absolute junkie for live music.

HaHaHa

Small world. If we were both on RCF and would have announced, Id have bought you some suds:thumbup:

Im living in the 3rd best place for live shows after NY and LA. Music City, where you can catch a damn good show 5 nights a week depending on the range of your music tastes.

One week I caught 3 shows of people who I had been dying to see in the Cleveland area but had never come closer than Detroit or Cincinatti all in Nashville... IN THE SAME WEEK. It was like Christmas. So I totally understand you having to branch out brosef.

I don't know if you heard but multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett was found dead last week. He was a member of Wilco and he played a pivotal role in the evolution of their sound. They recorded some truly great records during his stint (Being there, Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. He's the guy at the keyboards in this video:

this is from Grizzly Bear's 2nd album and it's a great song if you enjoy your indie music with a sprinkle of Beach Boys' melodeis and harmonies:

I have mixed feelings about them too. I liked Beautiful Freak, and that's about it.

Don't know if anyone has posted anything of Built to Spill yet. They are without doubt one of the best alternative rock bands out there.

It sounds like their singing "LEBRONosaurus" in this song. Kind of disappointing when I learned that they song "that brontasaurus"...

It was extremely difficult to find any videos of them, other than live shows filmed with crappy mobile phones.

My gf put this on in her car the other day actually and it was the first time I had heard Phoenix. She had been talking them up a bit and they're pretty good... I'm not huge on the Indie bands although I do like a few, Shins... Band of Horses. I'm gonna have to grab this CD though...

Guess I'll add on... Prog rock is my bane. From new to old I like Rush, LZ, Tool, and these guys to name a few...

I'm going to see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on Friday. I think it will be a great gig. Saw him last year, but that was with Grinderman. It was a great concert nevertheless.

This have to be one of the most bad a$$ songs in history:

Another great song. I love how he screams "daaaymn"

Bump.....

Just thought I'd throw in that I'll be seeing Bloc Party, MGMT, Flaming Lips, Doves, Happy Mondays, Janes Addiction, Friendly Fires, White Lies, Manchester Orchestra and a shit load of Aussie bands at Splendour in the Grass at Byron Bay down under next month. Great lineup!
