Peyton Hillis is Jason Bourne

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Peyton Hillis

that happened in the off season

To be fair there was really little to no offseason for this to occur in. I am glad he went to camp as there was a lot of catching up to do. Which is why I am giving him the benefit of the doubt of wanting more money but not overvalued money. In which case I can side with his minor griping (through his agent)

Re: Peyton Hillis

I don't see how we can afford to get rid of Hillis unless we get an immediate replacement for him. Other than Hillis, we have two young RB's that have never played an NFL down before this season, and one of them could have bad knees.

I don't mind over playing Hillis as long as it's not outrageous. The guy is absolutely the perfect person to be the face of the franchise and he'll put people in the seats. If he gets traded, there will be a huge outrage from the fans.

Re: Peyton Hillis

Someone on OBR said John Clayton stated a deal between the Browns and Hillis would get done.

We don't have viable replacement for him now so what sense does it make to trade him? Which is why any rumors are crazy...

And overpaying him because he puts people in the seats is a bad reason to pay him... You don't overpay him anything... You pay him a reasonable contract for both parties... Right now Hillis and his agent are asking for too much, which is understandable, but I have a feeling they're not going to come down from their stance...

Madden curse

I wish we knew more about the situation, but I can't blame Hillis for being pissed (if he even is). Hillis pounded teams last year and proved he deserves to get 25+ touches a game. Then Shurmer comes in with his pussy ball and decides to ignore the power running game, which is our best option on offense, in favor of McCoy throwing 50000000 times a game.

Re: Peyton Hillis

I could understand if the Browns were a team who plays hardball with all their players, but why does Hillis get hardball and Gocong gets probably more than he even wanted?

Hardesty was running the ball better last week...

Not to mention we were down most of the 2nd half, resulting in McCoy needing to throw the ball more...

Last game was also the first game his YPC was up over 4...

$18 million is different from $40-$50 million...

40-50 million? That's Chris Johnson money. Is Hillis really asking for 40-50 million?

Re: Peyton Hillis

If the Jets lose another game, I'd bet we could squeeze a 1st out of them, which I think is worth it. Only problem with that is this contract saga can't go on much longer without either the Browns or Hillis publicly addressing the whole situation. I'd rather have Hillis than pretty much everything other than a 1st rounder.

Re: Peyton Hillis

A 2nd or 3rd rounder. Someone will be willing to pay for what he's shown in his one season of production.

I doubt it. I don't think the demand for running backs are what they once were. I've not been really following this much, I don't know how much Hillis wants. I'd pay him a decent contract, but I wouldn't commit to him as if he were a franchise player.

I'm not against trading him as well, depending on what we could get for him.

Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, and Adrian Peterson. What do all three have in common, outside being the best at their position? None of them were in the post season last year. The days of building around a running game are over. This is a new era of football. A running game is important, still, but nothing like having an efficient passing game.

Hillis is hardly a "can't trade" piece on our team. I truly think Hardesty can match, or come close to the production down the line. We really need a change of "pace" kind of back, and Hillis and Hardesty are too similar. If one will cost more than the other, then making Hillis available in trade might not be so bad.

I like Hillis, don't love him like some fans. I'm not against getting rid of him if the deal is right.
