Re: Peyton Hillis
Why would you want to overpay a guy, that lead us to a whopping 5 wins last year?? No offense to Hillis, who qualifies as a "good" running back. But even elite running backs these days aren't leading teams to SBs. They're not even leading their teams to the playoffs. Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, and Adrian Peterson were not in the playoffs last year. Running backs are no longer a featured position. The game has evolved and changed. It's a pass happy league now.
The Browns should run this organization like a business, and do what's best for the franchise. Not like a popularity contest. Giving Hillis a "monster" contract would be a horrible decision.
I don't see how we can afford to get rid of Hillis unless we get an immediate replacement for him. Other than Hillis, we have two young RB's that have never played an NFL down before this season, and one of them could have bad knees.
I don't mind over playing Hillis as long as it's not outrageous. The guy is absolutely the perfect person to be the face of the franchise and he'll put people in the seats. If he gets traded, there will be a huge outrage from the fans.
