Peyton Hillis is Jason Bourne

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Peyton Hillis

I'll tell you this much...

If Hillis gets traded to any other team but the Browns, I'll instantly trade for him in fantasy. That's a great way to ensure a healthy, massive statistical season.

Re: Peyton Hillis

I still don't see any team giving him the money him and his agent want. I mean the Browns aren't really in the position to trading one of the few their contributers on offense. Talks must have really went to hell between both sides.

Re: Peyton Hillis

If all this stuff is correct, I was dead wrong about Hillis' attitude. Maybe I will learn one day...

Re: Peyton Hillis

Hillis for Tebow!!!

Then we would have basically traded Brady Quinn for Tebow!! :gap:

Re: Peyton Hillis

I thought Hillis said that he wants to be a Brown, his ego can't be that huge that he wants a trade or that dumb to listen to his agent telling him that he deserves top money after 1 good season. Him saying "if they wanted to extend me by now they would have" is worrisome.

Re: Peyton Hillis

@thepeytonhillis

if I could have physically played against the Dolphins I would have. I love this city and hope to retire here.

@thepeytonhillis

I love the fans of Cleveland..the city that gave me a chance. I play hard in every play of every game.

:sad:

Re: Peyton Hillis

If we can get a 2nd rounder and he is insistent on top RB money then I say we do it. I am a big Hillis fan, but let's face it. He gained a lot of stats because he was on a team with little other options. He is a good solid runner, but he has fumbling/decision problems. He is now apparently upset he isn't getting re-signed (I do not hold it against him he sat out a game sick). I mean if this was his second season of good production, great. Sign him, but he could be a one hit wonder and if he is hell bent on getting top RB money... fuck him. Get some draft picks. Hardesty looks capable of being solid atleast.

However, if it comes out he would be willing to sign for a reasonable contract and the Browns just low-balled the fuck out of him and then traded him, then I'll be upset.

Re: Peyton Hillis

I don't believe for a sec Hillis wants to be traded. I don't believe we would consider it. He will be signed up.

I do think the amount of guaranteed dollars is what is stopping any agreement right now. His agent is probably asking for about double the money the Browns are offering. I also think the years of the extension is not in question, and neither is the amount of the base salary per year. It's in the guaranteed money.

Re: Peyton Hillis

It certainly doesn't help when guys like Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson get paid big time in the off-season... Considering how agents work, they always go from whatever the top paid RB's get when they re-work their contract.. I'm not saying Hillis' agent is asking for that type of money, but he's probably asking for Michael Turner/Maurice Jones-Drew type money...

The problem with this is that Hillis is asking for too much money but fans are going to back the player instead of thinking logically... Listen, I like Peyton and hope he stays here and he's a good player but he shouldn't be paid highly off of one year at a position where the shelf-life is the shortest in the league... I have no problem with him getting paid, and the Browns obviously don't either, but let's keep it in reason... The Browns have shown they're willing to spend money (Gocong, Thomas, Rubin) and are paying good value for the their players... So it should say something when the Browns and Hillis can't come to an agreement...

Call me out on this if I'm wrong but Hillis is the one to blame here... He needs to grow some balls, go out there and play like he's supposed to... He'll get paid regardless... If he produces like he did last year then I don't think paying him top $$$ would be as much as a problem... But right now he is with only one year of legit production... It also might be different if ran the ball better to start the year..

Ultimately, I think something will get worked out... They're not going to trade a young player who is a weapon and a fan favorite, it's not going to happen... This stuff is just being overblown by the media and especially the fan base because he is such a fan favorite...

Re: Peyton Hillis

For fucks sake...trading Hillis? This is like a bad dream.

Re: Peyton Hillis

This whole thing reminds me of the Josh Cribbs episode a few years back.
