Re: Peyton Hillis
It certainly doesn't help when guys like Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson get paid big time in the off-season... Considering how agents work, they always go from whatever the top paid RB's get when they re-work their contract.. I'm not saying Hillis' agent is asking for that type of money, but he's probably asking for Michael Turner/Maurice Jones-Drew type money...
The problem with this is that Hillis is asking for too much money but fans are going to back the player instead of thinking logically... Listen, I like Peyton and hope he stays here and he's a good player but he shouldn't be paid highly off of one year at a position where the shelf-life is the shortest in the league... I have no problem with him getting paid, and the Browns obviously don't either, but let's keep it in reason... The Browns have shown they're willing to spend money (Gocong, Thomas, Rubin) and are paying good value for the their players... So it should say something when the Browns and Hillis can't come to an agreement...
Call me out on this if I'm wrong but Hillis is the one to blame here... He needs to grow some balls, go out there and play like he's supposed to... He'll get paid regardless... If he produces like he did last year then I don't think paying him top $$$ would be as much as a problem... But right now he is with only one year of legit production... It also might be different if ran the ball better to start the year..
Ultimately, I think something will get worked out... They're not going to trade a young player who is a weapon and a fan favorite, it's not going to happen... This stuff is just being overblown by the media and especially the fan base because he is such a fan favorite...
