How about a trade with the Lakers?. -- Without them receiving Sessions
I'm not one to usually post these things but..
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6uht2dy
+ Cavs receive 1st round pick from LAL
Kobe has vouched to keep Gasol so.. Lakers finally get a star PG, move Gasol to C and slot Jamison in at PF.
Then you got a line up of Rondo/Kobe/MWP(or Barnes)/Jamison/Gasol. Better than the squad they have out there right now??
For Boston, who are purportedly shopping Rondo because they're tired of him.. Get two young players to build around (Sessions and Bynum).
Sessions/Allen/Pierce/KG/Bynum. Not bad at all.
Then for the Cavs, this is pretty easy. They get JO's expiring contract, can play a bit of Center while AV recovers. Get two friendly contracts in McRoberts, and Avery Bradley (who is young and a solid defender at the 1 and 2 spots).. AND pick up a 1st rounder in the exchange.
... To me it makes sense - IF the Celts are committed to trading Rondo, and the Lakers are committed to getting a good PG. Thoughts?
I like this in theory. I don't know if the Lakers would help the Celtics and vice versa, but it would make sense for both franchises. It also saves both teams some money and gives them additional flexibility. I'd tweak things around a bit though to make the Cavs more of a dump site for the bad contracts in exchange for future picks. This is what I would do:
Cleveland trades: Antawn Jamison and Ramon Sessions
Cleveland obtains: Jermaine O'Neal, Luke Walton, Steve Blake, 2012 first (LAC via BOS), and 2012 first (DAL via LAL)
Boston trades: Rajon Rondo, Jermaine O'Neal, and 2012 first (LAC)
Boston obtains: Andrew Bynum and Ramon Sessions
Los Angeles trades: Andrew Bynum, Luke Walton, Steve Blake, and 2012 first (DAL)
Los Angeles obtains: Antawn Jamison and Rajon Rondo
I tried taking the two least desirable picks from each of the teams so that the Cavs could get both. O'Neal expires this year, Walton is fodder (may retire/be bought out), and Blake can serve as a decent backup PG behind Kyrie. With these two firsts and the two seconds, the Cavs could have serious ammo to trade for future picks or move up.
