Progressive Field Renovations Planned Over 2 Years

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why do I feel like nobody is taking the Indians to task for calling an audible on this entire renovation?

Explain your view of what calling an "audible" would mean here. Are you upset the bars aren't topped with lacquered wood? :chuckle:

The top is a "rendering" from a design firm who had preliminary specs on the stadium. Things happen when you get in there and actually begin working. You can almost find an inconsistency with any rendering because it's done to appease folks and give them an idea of what to expect. The top photo isn't a blueprint.

Throw peanuts, empty beer cups, wrappers, spit, snot, papers, napkins, etc...on that perfectly polished floor in that rendering and we will all get a better picture.

Having the red painted stripe and polished floor would be cool, but probably not going to happen. (this part of the 2 year plan?)

I just wish nothing could be rendered. Big example, when video games come out. Looks like the sweetest shit, and the actual gameplay looks nothing like it.

I work for an advertising agency that provides renderings to our clients on a daily basis. And I can't seem to come up with a reason why you'd go public with a rendering that won't look anything like the finished product?

I don't mean to swing my dick here, but you're talking to someone in a similar industry (albeit not architectural design)... Yes, when you're mocking up artist renderings there will always be discrepancies from the finished product.

The problem is that this looks like an altogether concept overhaul.

I guess I'm just not seeing the overhaul like you are. I, too, am familiar with renderings and development and I suppose I'm just used to reality not being as utopic as renderings make it seem..

What do you see that is a complete overhaul?

As stated before... Isn't this a two year renovation? That concession stand wasn't redone, or it looks the same to me. Could it be slated to be done later? As of now all they did was paint. As for the concept, not sure how feasible that is, since it would require sparkly lights out of nothing n what appears to be a false ceiling. Seems kind of silly to put up a false ceiling in a concrete outdoor structure that 'sweats'the way I assume the stadium does. Within a few years it will have several beautiful brown stains on it. Seems like something a design firm drew up that just isn't feasible.

Stands look the same, just have design below them that would make them unique to neighborhoods. Im not sure I buy all the renovations, but I expected an actual renovation...not a polishing.

IMO: Resurfacing the floor, exposed brick, color splash, and several structural differences from the counter, itself, to the ceilings/awnings, etc.

Hey - a fellow ad man. No idea how you work in that industry and think what is promised to clients is what they end up getting. :chuckle:

And the rendering had a giant Nick Swisher picture above it - so really the end result is an improvement.

I think the "inside" renovations are better than the "outside" renovations, at least so far.

"Right field terrace renovations...don't fuck with our Big Lots patio furniture"

Those boxes are going to be roasting hot in the summer time. No/limited overhang for shade and those white walls and light concrete are just going to bounce the heat right off and magnify it like crazy. Good luck in there with the sun.

I don't think the RF area looks great - but I also don't think I'll really care when I'm up there drinking $4 beers in July and watching this team. It is still very much an improvement on what was there before.
