Pryor eligible for the supplemental draft but suspended for the first 5 games

One thing I will say: kid throws it 75-80 yards with ease. For what that's worth.

So far Pryor is 22-for-29 throwing to moving targets. Three of those incompletions were drops. Looks pretty good throwing it.

Ran a 4.36, 4.39 and a 4.41

Those are great 40s for his size and he ran them on turf.

After seeing that Brown kid play, you still stand by that?

The only logical reason I can gather is that it will stop college athletes from engaging in illegal shit. Even still, I think it's bullshit.

Agreed. Although I dislike Pryor and have never liked him, what the NFL is doing to him now is awful. I didn't know they would penalize a kid in the NFL for doing something in college. I'd also like to know why Pryor is the one they are setting an example with. It's not fair. Is the NFL going to go back and now penalize other players for things they did in college? I understand this an agreement between Pryor and the NFL to get into the supplemental draft, but it really seems amazingly unfair.

If you and I agree....it must be true.

Or....the apocalypse.

You dont get what i as saying at all. He was eligible to play in 2011 for the NCAA. The supplemental draft is only for ineligible players. The NFL wanted to figure a way to let Pryor play this year and only bend the rule not break it. So, this is their solution. It was a compromise.

But yes, if he would have declared in time for the regular draft he would not be suspended this year at all.

I'm just now starting to read this thread. I don't follow you. Yes, he was eligible to play in 2011 but was suspended by OSU and then told he wasn't going to be able to come back anyway. I'm not getting it.

So the NFL is saying he can't play college ball in 2012 now per the NCAA and OSU and he also can't play NFL ball for 5 games. How does this make any sense? I'm trying to figure this out. I really am. It just doesn't jive with me based on how the NFL has operated in past offenses done by college players and also by pro players. How and why is Pryor being singled out?

In most past cases where the athlete is involved and the school gets a ban in bowl games or scholarships, etc, the player who goes on to the NFL gets off scott free with maybe his trophies taken away or some silly thing like that. The team he leaves behind, even if the players had nothing to do with things, are the players penalized. So why now is Pryor not only being penalized by college ball, but is also being penalized by the NFL as well?

Wow. This truly is baffling. I must be missing something important. Believe me, I feel silly defending Pryor of whom I have never liked, lol, but this seems outrageously awful to me.

What's bad for Pryor is not the fact of not playing for five games as he isn't going to play anyway, but it's the missing practices with the team that will hurt him. A team won't have many days to figure out if they want to keep him on the roster moving forward.

That all being said; he's a fucking athlete. That's for sure. Some team out there will take him. Heck, looking at Brown as our 3rd string QB with Cribbs on the roster as well, why not? We could use both Cribbs and Pryor in special type plays in the slot formation with McCoy and Hillis in the backfield. The defense would be very confused as to what comes next. LOL We could put some new wrinkles into the offense for those last five games of the season.

He's perfect for Oakland: big arm, great speed, sells his soul for drugs and tats.

What purpose would he serve on this team? No point in taking him as a QB.
We have Josh Cribbs, there is no use for Pryor. Waste of space. Prior has already ruined one of Ohio's football teams, no reason for him to ruin another.

Awww poor Pryor..

some people seem to missing something in this whole thing is that Terrel prior received his 5 game suspensions before the draft. If he wanted to elude the punishment he could of simply done so and avoided all this supplemental basis.
His situation did change.
1. The coach he agreed to come back for and serve out his suspensions was removed.
2. Sfter snother incident ith terrel pryor he was advised he most likely wouldnt get to play this season. He chose to sign an agent and prepare for the supplemental draft as opposed to wait for the official ruling.
3. He agreed to come back to serve his suspension under the idea that he would get to play after 5 games.
4. Pryor did not declare for supplemental draft until after he got the word of potentially a full year suspension.
5. Ohio state provided a statement supporting that Terrell had no reasonable expectation of being able to return to the field after serving his 5 game suspension until well after the date to declare for the draft was over.

The only thing the NFL has shown here is that if someone becomes a target of NCAA scrutiny. they should bail at the first opportunity before they get trapped in a system

now if harvey hunga can voluntarily leave school for violating its honor code and enter the supplemental draft. Why would Pryor not be able to leave after demonstrating a clear intention of returning leave for similiar reason albeit more serious.

The suspension wont stick.

We'll see. Pryor said he won't appeal the suspension. Friday, his attorney said they'd "likely" appeal after he was signed. So, who knows. I don't see the real issue with this that the rest of you do. Lee has this pretty clear. Under normal circumstances he'd have to wait till the regular draft next year. The NFL likes their rules and systems followed. Thus, this compromise.

Anyways, it should be noted that the Browns were one of the 17 teams in attendance at his work out.

It is a bit ridiculous he has an NFL suspension to serve.

He didn't break any laws; he violated NCAA's code of conduct. The NFL typically only reprimands players for breaking the law.

Don't get me wrong, Pryor has proven he's not too proficient at making good decisions, and will likely serve numerous suspensions during his NFL tenure (if he can even survive in the NFL), but this seems highly unwarranted.

In the end though, this suspension is meaningless. Even if he could participate from day 1, he wouldn't be ready to start any NFL games this season this late into a camp. It's more show than substance.

Yes. Brown will never make the field this season in meaningful minutes.

Same could have been said for McCoy last season... Think before posting. Brown is awful, Browns need a 3rd string QB that at least has a clue.

Ya he has no shot at being a qb in the NFL, even though he has shown to be a hard worker and has gotten much better each of the past 3 seasons. Pryor will never be as good a backup as Dixon, Webb, Newton, Young, or Wallace

Turn off ESPN.

While I don't like Pryor's character at all, I can't say he won't be a good NFL QB someday. I think he will.

That's why I think the Browns should seriously consider him. If nothing else than to raise his value doing other things in his first year, then trading him for a need.
