RCF Dynasty Football League

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Don't really care either way.

If you're going to keep the bonus, just make it small. Like 1 or 2 extra points, nothing crazy.

Sounds good. I switched the big play bonus from 2 and 4 to 1 and 2 points. Plays between 40-79 yards get a bonus point. Plays over 80 yards get two bonus points. These don't stack. You either get one point or two, not three.

Better?

Also, does anyone have any arguments for or against adding a second defensive flex? Is this something people would be open to or are some people vehemently against it? I'd just like to prop up the value of having some defensive player depth a bit.

Oh, and just a quick reminder about trading future picks...

When you trade a future pick, you can disregard where Fleaflicker says that the pick will fall. For example, if I traded my 2018 1st, Fleaflicker will say it is the second overall pick in 2018, same as my first rounder in the start-up. This is not true (unless I finish second to last this year, I guess). The annual rookie draft order will be based on where you finish the previous season, not on the random spot the start-up gave you. Further, rookie drafts will not snake. They will function like the NFL draft. If you finish as the worst team, you'll have the first pick in each round of the rookie draft (barring any traded picks, obviously).

We snake the start-up because that's the most fair way to do it, but after that we'll function more like the NFL and the worst teams will have the best shot at the top draft prospects. The goal, obviously, is to give the bad teams an increased opportunity to improve and make it tougher for the best teams to stay on top long term without savvy management and smart picks/trades.

Finally, don't bother trading future picks past round five. Those picks will not exist. Rookie drafts will only be five rounds. There's just no way to set it up so that Fleaflicker acknowledges that. In the start-up, though, you can trade whatever picks you want.

Also worth noting is that, if you trade away a pick for this year and don't get one back (like say you traded two picks for one to move up), you'll receive a compensatory pick at the end of the draft to ensure you finish with a full roster.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

My dad has been in a fantasy league (not dynasty, but a 3-man keeper) for 25+ years now, and they have scoring like this. He's really not a huge fan of it, but him and most of the guys in the league are old-school and do a lot of scoring by hand because they always think their online site is screwing them over :chuckle:

I'm not sure really. I like being able to eyeball things by looking at stats, and I feel like I shouldn't lose on a last second thing because Beckham caught an 80 yard touchdown instead of a 79 yard touchdown. Just my two cents on that though. I do like the reduction from 4 to 2 and 2 to 1 though. Not a dealbreaker either way for me.

I've never done IDP so I'm a bit biased, but I'd prefer to start as few defenders as possible so I can get a better handle on it. I really don't care either way though, I'm expecting to get killed on the defensive side of the ball for a year or so.

This. I'm in favor of getting rid of the extra points completely. It's really no problem to just play 80 yards as 8 points rather than 8+2.

Also, can we do fractional scoring to fix some of the tie breaker issues?

Im with @Stark on the defensive side. I've never done IDP in a competitive league, so I expect to get nailed for a while until i catch on.

But im a Cleveland fan, so stretches of losing don't deter me. LOL

Im ok with getting rid of the play length bonus as long as the total yard bonus' stay.

Gonna be busy for the next few hours. I'll make a few tweaks after that and post here with the details.

Also, I am pretty sure fractional scoring is already enabled. Will double check when I make the other tweaks.

Fleaflicker does fractional scoring. Always has. Been in a league with them for 5 seasons now.

You can opt out of it, though, although I believe it is enabled by default and I'd have no reason to change that particular setting so it should still be set that way.

Ended up having time to do it now.

Made the following rule tweaks:

1. Got rid of all big play bonuses.
2. Instead, added bonus points for big games. RBs get a bonus point for 100 yard games and 2 points for 150+ (these don't stack...one or the other).
3. QB is the same but with 300 and 400 yard games.
4. WR bonuses are at 100 and 150.
5. Removed defensive bonus point for 80+ yard touchdowns. Didn't replace it with anything.

None of those stack.

Also, fractional scoring is enabled.

I think removing some of the big play bonuses makes things kinda stale.

some guys get minimal touches to maximize their big play ability .

I'd prefer one IDP Flex.

Everything else you mentioned seems fine.

Open to move up in the draft, contact me if you're in the top 3-5 and want to trade.
