Report: Bucks to trade Joe Smith for Ruben Patterson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Bucks should start Bell over Williams for defensive purposes... Redd nor Simmons aren't the best defenders..

Ruben will attack the basket relentlessly and draw contact with phenomenal regularity. Ruben will help the Bucks get into the bonus quickly where guys like Redd, Simmons, Mo, and Blake will clean up from the line.
:chuckles: Glad you aren't actually counting on him once they get into the bonus. Rube's 40% FT shooting on the year, that's...awesome. I'm not hating on the guy, I also picked him up on my 2nd fantasy team. But it's truly amazing that you think the Bucks will be better after losing Magloire AND Joe Smith, who wasn't back at full strength IMO. This year's Bucks are going to suffer from "Atlanta Hawks Disease", their 2-3-4 players are all too similar. And counting on a PG they already kicked to the curb once to gel them will not be enough.

Again, I'm not hating, I thought they were going to give us a run last year. That's when they had their best shot.

IMO, the bucks added a lot last year (including Bogut) and on paper, I thought they'd be tougher. This year though, will be different. They have played together for a season - their staff is back to stress continuity. I actually think they improved at the point by losing TJ - he sucked last year. And they got a solid, very solid piece in return for him. I expect at least 5 more wins than last year - wouldn't even be surprised by 10 more....

I think you're spot on here. Losing Magloire and TJ and simply replacing them with Bogut and Charlie Bell respectively would have made us a better team this year. Mags and TJ were both woefully inefficient and too often had their positive contributions erased by their mistakes.

The Bucks will be a better offensive AND defensive team next season. If they don't win at least 45 games, heads will roll.

The Bucks are still the worst team in the division.

PG - Williams, Blake
SG - Redd, Bell
SF - Simmons, Patterson, Noel
PF - Villanueva, Skinner, Ilyasova
C - Bogut, Gadzuric

Looks like a 38-42 win team to me...

Joe Smith was a solid performer when he was healthy. But therein lies the problem, he's rarely healthy and when he is his minutes have to be monitored. Joe will be coming off of his 3rd knee surgery in 12 months. The Bucks did well to trade him for value BEFORE he re-injured himself in the regular season.

I won't bore anyone with stats, but the Bucks are suddenly as efficient on offense as any team in the league....certainly top 5. Adding Skinner, Blake, and Patterson will make the Bucks better on defense. More minutes for Charlie Bell and Gadzuric will help as well.

Bogut will initiate a lot of offense from the post with his well above average passing skills at his position. The Bucks will pass the ball into the post and around the perimeter until the open shooter is found. Mo Williams, Charlie Bell, Steve Blake, Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons, Charlie Villanueva, and Ersan Ilyasova are ALL excellent three point / perimeter shooters.

It's on Cleveland. Ferry has sat on his hands while your vets have gotten older and slower. Lebron will do what he does, but we'll throw Bobby, Ruben, and Bell at him for 48minutes. Bogut will establish position and extend (draw charges) in the post when Lebron get's past his defender. No cake walk.

Doubt it. Don't overrate your squad. They'll come back to the pack next season.

Im not overrating my squad but how are the Bucks going to be better than anyone with their additions?

The Cavs won 50 games without Larry Hughes. And they have the best player in the game.
The Bulls got a lot better.
The Pistons are still a very good club.
The Pacers could go either way....

1 man does not a team make. You still need a pg. Until you get one, the Cavs will not make it out of the second round. It took 3 blind zebra's ignoring a traveling call to get you there in the first place. Come down off of the mountain. Competition will be fierce.

LOL Im not going to get into this with you. I did last year and we saw how that all played out. It won't be any different this year....

The Bucks are a joke. With all the other talent in the Central they are destined to be an also-ran for the next few years. But hey, at least you can look forward to the exciting Andrew Bogut era.

1. The Cavs are BETTER without Larry Hughes. He takes shots away from your more efficient scorers....Lebron and Ilgauskas. Flip Murray had more of a positive impact on the Cavs than Larry Hughes did last season...even when he was healthy.

2. The Bulls added more of the same. They are not a problem for the Bucks. We can score and they can't. It's been that way for many years now. Redd eats Hinrich for lunch every time....mismatch. It'll also be interesting to see PJ Brown trying to guard Villanueva from the 3 point line and in.

3. The Bucks will match up much better against the Pistons next season. Losing Ford is the biggest reason. After the 6-3 Billups ate him alive, the Bucks would always switch him over to the 6-7 Hamilton = more of the same abuse. After Ford was traded, I realized that the Bucks were showcasing Ford as there was no justifying playing him and benching Charlie Bell against Billups and Rip.

4. Who knows how the Pacers will play. Injuries always seem to bite them. Tinsley is still their pg so that's a problem. No more Anthony Johnson.

Seriously, he was totally sold on the Bucks being better than the Cavs last year and they weren't by any stretch. We didn't have a pg last season or solid shooting gaurd for most of the season and we were still better. I don't see how not having a pg again this season makes a worse.
