Reporter, Cameraman Shot While On-Air

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So how many were shot? I hear the person interviewed was also shot, and in the er.

Also, the tweet going out like a coward, does this mean he killed himself and saved the public money?

Also i read he was let go from the station in 1999 and sued the station for discrimination. crazy.

I watched the video taken by the shooter. There were quite a few shots fired. I didn't count, but i'd say 10-15. Also he waited until the camera was on the reporter to actually shoot, which I thought was pretty shitty.

CNN reporting he shot himself but didn't die...critical condition. The person being interviewed was also shot but is currently in the hospital undergoing surgery...also in critical condition.

Reactions: Lee
I agree it's a tragedy, especially for the family of the victims.

But delaying the political debate when these issues occur is the problem. Kicking the can down the road in an effort to not piss people off is why we never actually attempt to solve this problem.

I agree with this... There is no point in delaying a discussion; it's best to hear solutions rapidly rather than waiting, for whatever reason.

But, I think to @Lee's and @Chris' point, we already know no one is going to change their minds.

What do you mean by this?

Why do you care? About this only, is what I mean..

I mean that someone will try to justify his actions. Someone will try to blame the victims. Happens in literally every case; even ones as clear as this. Yes, even when police clearly do something like this.

Why do you care?

Huh? There's 3 pages worth of posts, and you're asking me specifically why do I care?

I have no idea wtf happened, I'm just waking up to this.

I have no idea what you're talking about, I just asked you why you said "someone will try to exonerate this.."

What??

Why would anyone "blame the victims" in this case?

He was looking for sympathy. Faxed a 23 page report to ABC.

I'm asking why my post piques your interest.

Because it's an odd thing to say.

So what?

All of that is garbage though.. I could find you 100x more links filled with absolute nonsense.. It's the internet.

I figured that Burger King trying to turn a day of peace into a publicity stunt fits right in in a thread that is immediately trying to turn a double murder not even a few hours old into a prop for one's gun control position.

McDonald's response:

Dear Burger King,

Inspiration for a good cause... great idea.

We love the intention but think our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference.

We commit to raise awareness worldwide, perhaps you’ll join us in a meaningful global effort?

And every day, let's acknowledge that between us there is simply a friendly business competition and certainly not the unequaled circumstances of the real pain and suffering of war.

We’ll be in touch.

-Steve, McDonald’s CEO

P.S. A simple phone call will do next time.

i.e., honor the victims of tragedy with real action instead of symbolic hand-wringing.
