Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is the thing...

Everybody bitches about Ferry's signings without taking into consideration:

(1) The other options we had at the time

(2) The chances of getting those other guys

Ferry did what he could with what he had in my opinion. Everyone he signed was an upgrade over the guy here before him and

No questions asked...Z and Gooden are underrated on this board.

Damon and Donyell had off years last year. Was that to be expected? No matter how much you jerks hate Z...Z and Gooden are still tradable assets under their contracts.

How were we supposed to get Joe Johnson? It cost the Hawks two draft picks and young talent, we had neither. We never had a chance.

Z got a deal below market value, that was a good deal.

But giving long deals to Marshall and Jones was terrible.

Larry Hughes he basically had no choice, but we coulda kept that money and just spent it next year or whatever...

Marshall and Jones...Shannon Brown has wasted draft pick written all over him...Ferry is no better than Paxson at this point. Nothing he has done has panned out.

If you had offered to max Johnson, yes you could have lost out on your cap space. But I'm still not certain that they would have matched that.

Then you put your money in limbo for two weeks as the Suns wait to match...which they probably would have.

Z is a good center. we needed to lock him up. and i hate to brake it to u people, but centers are not track runners. they could be over 30.

if hughes stays healthy there is no question that he will be good for this team. but to pay that much money to a injury prone guy is not great.

marshall is a good rebounder and shoots a good three. had a bad season last year, but i expect alot better this year.

wesley will bring stong vet leadership, who can hit open shots.

with a avg PG we are the champs. lets hope we can do it with below avg PGs since no one likes luke.

Exactly. Everybody forgets that the Suns were supposed to be a lock to resign Johson for whatever it took.

In less than a week, Hughes, Redd, and Allen were off the market and the Cavs were in no position to gamble and come away with nothing.

Even if they had saved their money for this offseason, the FA pool this year was garbage. Peja got $60 million+ and so did Ben Wallace. There was no good PG or SG talent this year anyways.

Ferry did the best he could in the conditions last summer.

No matter what you think of Z, if he had signed somewhere else, his replacement would've been a downgrade on offense. Plus, Z was the only other Cav that actually had offensive game at the time, imagine what the press would've done if the Cavs let Z go?

If Z's gone, who do the Cavs start at center last year? AV? He'd have been fouled out by halftime, plus he was hurt at the beginning of last season. Maybe the could've signed Eddy Curry. That'd have been sweet...

As for Hughes, ya maybe they overpaid for an injury prone shooting guard. Who was the other option here? Redd and Allen weren't going to sign here, it would've cost them way too much money.

Johnson? Ya, I would've liked them to explore this option too, but the Cavs couldn't offer the Suns what Atlanta could and say the Suns took their time matching the deal. By that time Hughes is off the market and the Cavs are stuck with Ira Newble starting. Nobody needs this.

As for this offseason, please show me the starting point guard the Cavs should've signed. Anyone? They re-upped with Gooden for waaay below market value, Wesley should give the Cavs some added scoring and Pollard is a nice backup center/power forward if Z or Andy gets hurt.

Offseason madness I tell you. Everyone goes 3 months without seeing a game and they start over analyzing everything until they just talk themselves into it being hopeless. They talk down their own team and talk up individual players like Joe Johnson, making them seem like answer to all our problems.

Fact is, what happens in the offseason gaurantees nothing for season. Cavs got two nice young rookies that can contribute and two solid vets that will contribute. We lost Murray, who was nice, but not extrodinary or irreplaceable.

I am confident that he will. He's insanely athletic (as athletic as anyone in that draft), he came from a great college system, and he gets the team concept. He'll be a very popular player with this team.

It was changed to only a one week wait to match. I would have gambled, even if it meant I didn't get Larry Hughes.

When did we sign Larry Hughes ?

That's why you aren't a GM. Can you imagine what you'd be saying right now if we'd have lost that gamble?
