The good:

* Rodriguez runs the thuggiest program this side of Miami. Pacman Jones and Chris Henry are the poster children of his teams. He will take the UM program to new lows in character, and make them something the alumni can really be proud of. :)

* This could chase Josh Jenkins and Pryor into our arms, giving us two super stud level blue chippers.

The bad:

* Thugs or no thugs, Rodriguez has been extremely successful everywhere he's gone.
* The style of offense that he runs, the spread, gives the Silver Bullets significantly more problems than the more traditional style that Lloyd runs. On the bright side, it will take him some time to implement his system and get the right players for it. I would have hated to face Pat White and Slaton the last few years.

I want to hear from the Michiganders on this one. You know who you are. Please chime in.

Not a Michigander by any stretch of the imagination.

That said, Rodriguez scares me. Mission number 1 in the offseason needs to be learning how to stop the spread.

he is a top coach...i am very happy and VERY Surprised by this hire

never would have thought we would go outside of the fold but I am pumped

Michigan was just welcomed into the 21st century college football wise and he will bring the changes that we need especially in the S&C program where we are approx 10-15 years behind OSU in that dept. (literally im not kidding, UM players never do olympic style wieght lifts nor do they even do squats?!?!?!?)

His offense can be molded for passing as seen in his Tulane days and Mallett will thrive in this system

and as much as you think Pryor and Jenkins will be rushed to your team they very well may follow RR over to UM

OSU fans clinging on to the Thug thing which is whatever with me...OSU should be worried (in a few years)...If UM had hired Debrod or Brady Hoke or even Kirk Ferentz you would have continued to dominate us...With this hire EVERYTHING changes

OSU fans also clinging to how we dont have a Pat White type of guy which again you need to look into RR's past to see that he has only recently added a running dimension as a main part of the offense...He used Shuan King who was a drop back passer in his Tulane offense in 1998 and set records

I can explain enough how much change is coming...UM needed it and we got it

Just be ready for a different UM team

But today it is Great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

the reason that happened was because WVU is one of the easiest state universitys to get into so there academics allow players like pac man to get in...dont think those kinds of players will be able to get into UM, some of the dumbest kids i know and went to high school with go to WVU, as long as you have 2.0....you are in pretty much. You cant get those kinds of guys in the door at UM.

Sounds as if missagain is at the top of pryor's list now. I will hate him if he goes to the cesspool of the world.

not the top of Pryors list

I absolutly believe this is stilla UM vs OSU battle till the end...

Pryor did like UM a while back and we were in his initial top 4...he loves RR and his offense and he has a cousin who already plays for UM as well

Got to love a top kid if not the most important recruit in the nation deciding between OSU and UM

Mallett rumors are all false right now...basically created by kirk herbstriet going on TV saying the he recommends that Ryan should transfer

Is it possible thathe trasnfers...I guess...But I would have it at 90% staying

i mean he hasnt even had a chance to speak to his new coach and everyone has him leaving the program...I think not ...BTW if QB coach Scott Loefflor stays liek we all think he will than my % goes up to 99% sure he stays

As for the worried comment...I meant more along the lines of this hire shoudl worry you because CHANGE is coming...Much needed change...obivously if things had stayed the same the Bucks would have continued to dominate us

But since Change is coming that should worry you because the best thing for OSU would have been a Krik Ferentz or Mike DeBord hire

Im in no position to talk any dish right now...I know that and I wasnt trying to...just specualting that this was a step in the right direction for UM and not for OSU

some of you guys take this stuff a littttttttttle to serious.

This coming from the school that recruited Maurice Clarrett :chuckles::chuckles::chuckles::chuckles:

James, is that all you're going to say in every OSU thread from now until the end of time?

George I'm worried (I admit it), but it's not because of Michigan talent - it's purely change. I really think R Rod in Michigan will be hit or miss - remember what happened when Callahan took Nebraska type players and tried the spread offense? Also Ryan in Michigan will never work. Ever. I don't see how he wouldn't transfer. I also really don't think the 3-3-5 will work in the Big 10. Too much power. The likes of Wells and Hill will destroy it with some nice counters to the right or left tackles.

But then again, R Rod can recruit for his needs. If he's going to win big games though, he'll have to go against everything he stands for and go after some defensive guys, something he hates doing.

The biggest problem this presents Ohio State is Terrelle Pryor - the #1 recruit in football. I didn't read the posts so sorry if it's been said, but Pryor is a 6'6 QB with a cannon arm that runs a 4.4. He told Scout.com he's really excited about the idea of following Rod into Ann Arbor - Ohio State was leading his candidacy so it's in the air now to where he will go. Bottom line, Pryor in Michigan will cause monster headaches in Columbus for at least 3 years. Our only hope is if Pryor realizes QB's under Rod usually don't break the top 100 in passing yards.

Rod's a coward though. He was born in WV, he played at WVU - then he losses one game and runs away from the school. Now he's trying to get out of his $4 million buyout from WVU - he's just like Petrino.

Not sure how he is a coward, he took WVU to heights that nobody else had ever taken that school to, and he recruited well, Steve Slaton (or was it White) was an outcast who Maryland wouldnt even give a scholarship and Rodriguez scooped him up. Michigan is a destination job, when it comes up or it comes to you, its not something you turn down really unless your at another destination job (LSU, Les Miles) there is really no need for him to stay at WV since Slaton and White will both leave so why not go to another school, especially one that comes to you. Putting him and Petrino together just shows your ignorance and how you become completely oblivious to anything just because "Michigan" is connected to it. Petrino didnt finish the season and made promises that he was in it for the long hall and all that other stuff, Petrino quit on his team, Rodriguez had a nice run with WV but they got as far as they will ever get at least in my opinion. There was nothing much more for him to do there.

Once Rodriguez gets his recruits at UM....i think they have the potential to be dangerous, but thats a few seasons away. Im really starting to believe that some of you are dumb enough to believe osu will beat UM every year for the next 10-15 years.

Yeah, blame all your arguments on OSU's ignorance - did I not just admit I was scared of what RR might bring to the Big 10? Is that ignorance? Doesn't sound like it to me. Also I haven't taken one single hit against Michigan or WVU - it's all on Rich. The funny thing about you saying that is the only ignorant statement made this whole time, is you desperately trying to make OSU fans look bad, even when they're making solid points and you can't see past that. Everytime you post in a thread it becomes about politics and not about sport.

Rod still had top of the line underclassmen (Noel Devine, ring a bell?). If Rod and White both stay with Devine and his 9.6 ypc - even if Slaton left, Pitt proved who the real catalyst behind WVU's winning was, and it wasn't Slaton - WVU is still a top 5 preseason team, imo. I hate WVU, probably just behind my hatred of UM, ND, and MSU. I live around several WVU fans, and have said - if OSU and WVU's underclassmen stay in 2008, those two teams will play for the title. Seeing as OSU's juniors probably won't stay now they have another shot at the title, right now my pick for the 2008 title is WVU. He got embarrassed at losing a big game, saw an opportunity to leave, and ran away. Even at his press conference in Ann Arbor, he seemed lackluster and simply bored with being there. The WVU fans criticized him, and he fled. The man is WVU through and through, but he proved himself to be a coward. The only positive I see as far as OSU's standpoint from them hiring him and getting more publicity, is that he just doesn't understand how important The Game is to Ohio and Michigan.

So leaving for a better job is being a coward? He was going to leave for Bama last year but stayed because they gave him more money, WV is losing all the good offensive players. If WVU fans are pissed, that just shows how idiotic the majority of the people who live there are....in 6 years he got WVU to the National Spotlight, if anything, they should be happy he is moving on. osu and WVU playing for the National title...must have forgotten about UGA and UF next year...

Once again, Destination jobs > any other jobs. WVU is not a destination job by any stretch, the only reason Miles didnt leave was because he was already at one of the best schools in the country and UM would have been a step down for him regardless of his ties to the state. For RR its a step up and in the long run, everything in life is about moving up and i dont blame the man for wanting to move up.
