Sacramento Kings

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Sacramento Kings Total Cluster-fudge

No way I give up a top 5 pick. I'd do TT, Gibson, Walton and their pick back plus a 2nd rounder for Cousins and filler.

Re: Sacramento Kings Total Cluster-fudge

I really believe Cousins is acting out because of losing. This is his 3rd year in the league.. and the Kings are consistent bottom feeders. He's said that before, too. Not to say a new environment with a better chance of winning and teammates will fix everything.. but he has the chance to be the best big man in the league, that's tough to not even look at.

Re: Sacramento Kings Total Cluster-fudge

This is the top of opportunity we need to grab before soemone else does. We lost out on Bynym and we may have lucked out die his injuries, but lets go ahead and roll the dice please!!!!!!!

Re: Sacramento Kings Total Cluster-fudge

Not gonna lie, he and Kyrie would be a nasty duo. Throw in Dion Waiters and a possible free agent/draft pick at small forward, and this team can be a contender.

Depends what the Kings would want, though. A lineup of Irving - Waiters - FA/Draft Pick - Varejao - Cousins would be very, very nice.

not a strong locker room....check

no real veteran presence to guide him (does Andy strike you as a player he would look up to and who would be a great mentor for him?)...check

a coach who's had problems with knucklheads before (JJ Hickson anybody?)....check

that being said i might still do it depending on the price just because he's such an intriguing player

varejao is not even close to being enough of a veteran presence to turn around cousins. if he is to really pull a 180 on his career, he'll need to end up in san antonio, boston, etc. even charlotte could be a potential option depending on mj's involvement - though a frontcourt of cousins, biyombo, and gilchrist would be lolbad on offense.

that said, cousins was an intriguing option earlier depending on the asking price but i am liking him less and less. don't think sacramento will just give him away, either.

Hes terrell owens, only without the hall of fame potential

Re: Sacramento Kings Total Cluster-fudge

Like rasheed before him, he needs to be in a winning atmosphere to be stable. Not sure that's Cleveland at the moment though

Re: Sacramento Kings Total Cluster-fudge

A Byron Scott/Demarcus Cousins feud would be inevitable here. That'd be fun to watch though, I'd have to admit.

Dumbest thing I've ever read. What's so fun to watch? They argue in the locker room and he doesn't play. Yeah real fun.

Re: Sacramento Kings (get us that draft pick)

Now that the Kings have been finally sold (netting the Maloofs an extra $10 million in the process), I am ready for new ownership to clean house, replace their GM, find a new coach this year or next year, and make some moves to bring a passable, mediocre team to Sacramento. Overachieve and give us that pick (or trade us something useful to reclaim it for yourselves). I don't care. They have been in limbo so long. I just want to see the ball start rolling over there!

The trade conditions are below. I'm not expecting to get the pick in 2014, but 2015 is a good target. This year it would have taken the Kings 7 more wins to reach the 11th seed. Alternately, just be good enough to make the pick a more valuable trade commodity. Make it happen, Vanadive.

2014 first round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento’s 2014 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-12 in 2014, 1-10 in 2015, 1-10 in 2016 or 1-10 in 2017; if Sacramento has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Cleveland by 2017, then Sacramento’s 2017 2nd round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 56-60 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento’s obligation to Cleveland will be extinguished) [Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011]

Re: Sacramento Kings (get us that draft pick)

the last part of that makes no sense. How could their 2017 first round pick be in the top 10 while their 2nd round pick is in the last 5? It seems pretty safe to assume worst case is we get a pick in the 11-44 range in 2017, right? The 41-44 pick only happening if they finish in bottom 11-14 and hit the lottery. I would have to think new ownership will be motivated enough to improve the team out of the bottom 10 before 2017.

The last part is legalese only because the Kings already traded their 2017 2nd round pick to Boston (which is protected for selections 31-55). So they just had to put it in there for that reason.

Yes, if it goes all the way to 2017, the Cavs will get the Kings pick between 11 and 44 no matter what as you detailed.

Re: Sacramento Kings (get us that draft pick)

What happens if the league expands? There is a rumor they could add teams in 2016. If they do, it would likely be Seattle and perhaps another team. Does expansion simply improve our odds of getting the pick? When the bobcats were an expansion team, they were excluded from the lottery for the top 3 picks and were given the 4th pick. So if an expansion did happen in 2016 or even 2017, our chances of getting a first round pick only go up, right?

One a side note, I wonder what it would do to the protection on the Memphis pick.

Re: Sacramento Kings (get us that draft pick)

Well, I am really curious to see what Vivek does with his version a rebuild, he has two core pieces (Evans and Cousins) to build around. I have a feeling you will get the pick next year with a whole new front office and new focus. No more of the bare minimum that the Kings have been plagued with for 7 long...years.

Then again I am being very optimistic, probably more like 2015 you will get the pick.
