Someone needs to get it through these idiots heads that you don't pick a gender. Calling a boy a purple pumpkin doesn't change genetics.

Yeah, the difference between the word "gender" and "sex" has been around over 65 years. So arguing the term "gender" shouldn't be different than "sex" is kind of like arguing Hawaii shouldn't be recognized as a state. That ship sailed before you were born.

Arguing this "gender neutral" parenting is screwy is different because it's a new fad... we very well might find proof that these parents are doing more harm than good. We just don't have enough studies done yet since it is a new fad.

My Mom named me Lee because she wanted me to have a gender nutrual name that could be for both a boy or a girl.

Either that or I was named after a great grandparent...its one of those.

It's like a small number of parents are drinking some off brand odd flavored Kool-Aid. The school superintendent tries it and likes it. He then forces all the educators in his district to drink it too. This whole thing is absolute nonsense. I really hate that in doing this they are trying to attach some stigma as if there was actually something wrong with saying "boys and girls."

It just makes no sense to me. I see no benefit to it besides "being different". These type of parents are the type of people my grandpa has told me about my entire life.. "They couldn't smack their own ass with both hands"

if someone's an adult and gone through all the effort to become the opposite gender, i have no problem calling them what they want to be called...

but this shit is stupid..unless you have some kind of chromosome disorder, if your child has a wiener then hes a boy, etc... I dont really think a 2nd grader can really comprehend gender neutrality

What if a child considers themselves an adult. wouldnt it be offensive to refer to them as a child or kid.

and how about if they consider themselves an individual apart froma group while others consider themselves part of a group and nt wished to be singled out as an individual.

sex is what someone physically has as far as parts. you have a dick (i assume), thus your sex is male.
gender is what they identify themselves as. So while you may have a dick, you enjoy the pleasure of a man, and having a dick thrust inside of you (i assume), thus you identify your gender as girl, because thats who you relate with.

I had to go through a very similar training as an RA in college 6-7 years ago. But there it is a bit more prevalent. gay guys that identify as woman, women that identify as men. the funny looking person that clearly has tits but has a masculine build, and youre too afraid to ask.

If you really are curious about the issue (yeah, pun intended) the distinction is that some kids are being raised "gender neutral," meaning that if a teacher were to say, "Boys against girls dodgeball game!" there would be an awkward moment for the kid(s) who are being raised gender neutral.

So how do you divide up athletics out there on the left coast? Over here we have boys basketball teams and girls basketball teams, for example. Do you have a neutral team...or do kids get to pick which one they play for? What do you do for bathrooms and locker rooms?

There is a legal separation for kids of different sexes on sports teams. Legally the bathrooms issue is so baffling our school lets the gender neutral kids use staff bathrooms. I know, they get spoiled rotten since we don't want to get the overly sensitive parents worked up. At the same time, most of the bullying happens in the boys room. It's Lord of the Flies in there...

Sex is your biological chromosome pairing. XX XY.

Progressive minded types are saying your sex isn't a choice, at least from how you are born, but your gender is a choice.

I took a class on this.

We are getting to a point where you:

Are a biological male who identifies as male.
Biological male who identifies as a female.
Bio female who identifies as female
Bio female who identifies as male.

I'm in graduate school now. But when I was in undergrad, our school was already installing gender neutral bathrooms.

So yes it is coming.

I used to think this was all bullshit and overblown PC-crap. Then i spent 4 years in California and actually met and got to know people who fit into these in between categories. Once you learn the new language it really isn't an inconvenience anymore. It's annoying at first but once you meet people who are legitimately male sex female gender or vice versa and see what they have to go through, you realize it's not a battle worth fighting.
