School Told to Call Kids ‘Purple Penguins’ Because ‘Boys and Girls’ Is Not Inclusive

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It just makes no sense to me. I see no benefit to it besides "being different". These type of parents are the type of people my grandpa has told me about my entire life.. "They couldn't smack their own ass with both hands"
The benefit, and Im taking a stab deep into the dark abyss of philosophy regarding gender, is that our society is fucked largely in part of how we are 'raised as males' and 'raised as females'. the makeup, the brosociety, jersey shore, the difficult standards we are held to. This is a small step in ridding those problems.

Just teach your boys to be masculine and we won't have anything to worry about. Ngaf about girls cause their lives are gonna be easy as shit anyways so long as they end up hot.

This!

My youngest just started kindergarten in Texas. All the boys and girls in a class are referred to by their kindergarten class name...monkeys in my boys case. While they probably are not adhering to a gender neutral ideology cuz the church moms would lose it...it has a similarity...just not pushed to the extreme.
Besides, my boys are regularly playing with their junk. No real concern about this kind of agenda confusing them!

even decent looking honestly.

They have a surplus of what guys naturally generally lack and find issue with, but they have issues due to the surplus.

And teaching your boys to be masculine is heavily heavily frowned upon. Alpha is a characteristic actually attributed to those who die first and have more relationship issues, along with date rape fights etc.

I agree with Randolph when it comes to how he handles it in the classroom- call the kid by name as often as possible. Call the kid what they want to be called- I don't think that is really all that absurd, and in the end, it prevents the problem from the get-go. To me it is a simple matter of respect in that regard.

Where I get really confused, though, is the gender thing. It says 'all genders'... so is gender simply defined by who we are sexually aroused by, then? Because I thought that was the reason for terms like homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, etc. This is what confuses me- are gender and sexuality the same thing, and I have just been oblivious to this?

I guess I understand the older generations that, growing up, I just couldn't get why they couldn't let go of their viewpoints or would say often that there were ones they just couldn't wrap their brains around. This is one of those for me. I want to be understanding, I want to be accepting, but this just seems like an overcomplication of all this. This just seems like a biproduct of a bigger issue- a need for recognition and attention. Thus, a need for a bunch of different labels for something. Some please set me straight because this just confuses me.

gender is all the shit guys are taught to be like and the problems that ensue and same with girls. our identity is based on gender and alot of problems arise from it. girls; things like self obsession over appearance. guys: being taught to be super aggressive etc.

Parents are entitled to tell their kids whatever stupid shit they want at their own house, but they're not entitled to have the rest of the world comply with their delusions. If some guy wants to call himself a woman, he's got that right. It's when he insists that I consider him a woman -- when he gets to define reality for the rest of the world -- that I object.

Gender is a fact of nature, and schools are supposed to be teaching children about science, nature and reality. For an entire school to abandon that concept to satisfy the lunatic musing of some nutty parents is ridiculous. If you don't want your boy referred to as a boy, too fucking bad, because that's basically teaching the other children a false reality.

This, this, this, this. And this, again. I'd like this 10 times if I could.

gender isnt nature, its learned identity/behavior.

you dont naturally pick up a truck vs. a barbie as a boy/girl, theyre handed to you.

Gender is your sexual identity. There are people in this world who aren't just gay, lesbian, or bi... but also carry mannerisms that are very different from their biological makeup.

I mean come on, even when I grew up in Cleveland I saw super fem men and super masculine women... This shouldn't be news to you unless you have lived in a very small town and rarely left it in your life.

I do often think of one kid I taught some seven or so years ago. He transferred into my 8th grade class and I had heard he had been through one middle school a year. He was an African American boy but as feminine as can be. Dogs could tell he was not only gay but having gender identity issues by smell. He was also academically low and always talked loudly about how much he hated school.

Well, you drop a kid like that in a tough school with plenty of gang members, and I can tell why he was always on edge. If I tried talking to him about missing assignments or his wild emotional explosions, he would say I'm homophobic, racist, whatever. The kid left after about 8 weeks. No idea what became of him. I wondered if there IS a classroom on earth that could turn around how damaged he seemed to be.

If a classroom can prevent kids like that from tailspinning into what I witnessed, that's a step in the right direction. You would be shocked to know how many kids have some kind of a special need. But, all of the want to be treated as an individual and not just a face and name in the crowd.

classroom is a microcosm of the world.

was against this at first, but i get it

Last time somebody got called a monkey/ape here in Australia, this happened 1:17:

If I wanted to be super picky, what if I was an African American sending my child to this kindergarten? Could you imagine the uproar and backlash caused by a perceived case of vilification and racial stereotyping?

The point is, no matter what you do, there'll always be somebody to complain about something. There'll always be a minorty group that requires appeasing. That's why I can't complain when Australia is apparently under attack by it's own Muslim community. Keep handing them benefits, keep building their mosques and keep allowing their oppressive-culture on our soil and we've only got ourselves to blame.

I fear that this issue stems much further than this "gender neutralization" nonsense (which was foreign to me until today) but rather is another case of "political correctness gone mad" and the majorities, bowing to the minorities.

For perspective, here's 11 examples of political correctness gone mad.

1. The BBC has dropped the use of the terms Before Christ (BC) and Anno Domini (AD) on one of their programmes and decided that the terms 'Before Common Era' / 'Common Era' are more appropriate

2. The European Parliament introduced proposals to outlaw titles stating marital status such as 'Miss' and 'Mrs' so as not to cause offence. It also meant that 'Madame' and 'Mademoiselle', 'Frau' and 'Fraulein' and 'Senora' and 'Senorita' would be banned.

3. Throughout several US councils and organisations, any terms using the word 'man' as a prefix or suffix have been ruled as not being politically correct. Manhole' is now referred to as a 'utility' or 'maintenance' hole.

4. Loveable cartoon rogue Dennis the Menace has been given a politically correct make over. BBC chiefs decided to take away his edge in the remake. Gone are his bombs, catapult, water pistol and pea shooter - and in their place is a simple boyish grin.

5. Spotted Dick - a classic English dessert has been renamed to avoid embarrassment. The traditional pud Spotted Dick has been given the title Spotted Richard, after UK council bosses feared the original name might cause offence.

6. A school in Seattle renamed its Easter eggs 'spring spheres' to avoid causing offence to people who did not celebrate Easter.

7. A UK council has banned the term 'brainstorming' – and replaced it with 'thought showers', as local lawmakers thought the term may offend epileptics.

8. A UK recruiter was stunned when her job advert for 'reliable' and 'hard-working' applicants was rejected by the job centre as it could be offensive to unreliable and lazy people.

9. Gillingham fans had begun to fondly offer celery to their goalkeeper, ‘Big Fat’ Jim Stannard. The club, however, decided that celery could result in health and safety issues inside the ground. As a result, fans were subjected to celery searches with the ultimate sanction for possession of celery allegedly being a life ban.’

10. In 2007, Santa Clauses in Sydney, Australia, were banned from saying 'Ho Ho Ho'. Their employer, the recruitment firm Westaff (that supplies hundreds of Santas across Australia), allegedly told all trainees that 'ho ho ho' could frighten children, and be derogatory to women. Why ? Because 'Ho Ho Ho' is too close to the American (not Australian, mind you) slang for prostitute.

11. Some US schools now have a 'holiday tree' every at Christmas, rather than a Christmas tree.

Again, people's opinions on this kind of thing is always going to be subjective and that's totally fine at the end of the end. What's not fine is this constant unnecessary manipulation of traditions, names etc. on the basis of a resulting psychological long-term affect/long-term damage. I'm no psychologist, but I don't have the slightest doubt in my mind that a child at Christmas would not be frightened by a Santa Claus saying "Ho Ho Ho." Or for that matter, a child being referred to as either a boy or a girl causing inherent confusion.

The reality being, if every decision is made on the basis of "protecting human feelings" and not offending minorities, there would be absolutely next-to-nothing that could be said and considered "appropriate" when addressing particular issues.

You can't please everyone. It's about damn time we stop trying to.

gender isnt nature, its learned identity/behavior.

you dont naturally pick up a truck vs. a barbie as a boy/girl, theyre handed to you.

This is why I don't understand this "gender" crap. I grew up with a lot of female cousins and played with Barbies a number of times. And I'm as straight as a fucking cock on Viagra.

This is on AYSO soccer. Same reason these stupid cunts post a picture of every single one of their meals, to do lists and every borderline life achievement on facebook.

People have been lead to believe that they matter. There's like a dozen people in the entire world that matter and none of them are active on facebook and none of them give a shit about how genders are referred to.

man up is creating awful relationships and a considerable amount of self hatred for both genders. its not about the good of one person, its against shit like rape and guys being victim of bros trying to outbro with a first to the back of the head.

the 'people believe they matter' thing.. echh. thats like saying rosa parks bla bal bla, gay rights etc shouldnt happen. it all starts somewhere, like that classroom, which leads to more discussion
