Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

I know LBJ said he wants a coach who has played in the league, but I can't remember what his thoughts on the triangle offense are.. Didn't he say he would like to play in it like a month ago?

If so, it sounds like Shaw fits that description spot on. If we could bring in a defensive minded assistant coach it would work well I think.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

So because he said he was not going to wait for the Lakers job, you want him? Resume be damned?

I hope Grant and Gilbert don't think that way...

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

I'm really not on board with Scott, but I want to know why everyone is on Shaw's nuts?

Is it because he's an assistant to Phil? There have been plenty of those. Why don't we just try to pry Rambis away from Minnesota?

Just don't get the allure. It's not like he invented the triangle like Tex.

I don't want anyone who thinks of us as a 2nd choice job.

Shaw interviewed today and will be back tomorrow. Scott already said he wants the cavs job. If Grant/Gilbert pick one of the two, it's totally unacceptable if they decide to wait to see what Phil Jackson does in LA. If Shaw feels the same way as Scott, then pick our coach tomorrow and give LA the leftover instead of the other way around.

If we don't take Shaw, there is a good chance that he's the next Lakers coach.

If we don't take Scott, IMO, there is very little chance he is the next Lakers coach.

Once again this is my opinion. And before anyone says it, yes...I am a hater.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

Anyone worried we meet up with the Lakers in the Finals next year and Shaw is pitted against the guy who taught him everything? That exact thing happened to this team the only time it ever reached the finals. We all remember it was not pretty.

...I think we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it

How do you figure that? Ownership for LA wants Scott. Players want Shaw. Take your pick I guess, but there is no way we can figure out who LA would pick for the job if both were available. I don't believe both WILL BE available by the time Jackson decides. The Cavs will hire one of those this week... before LA. That's why I am wondering what Shaw would say if offered the job tomorrow. We already know what Scott would say... Yes. I agree that the Cavs should hire one of them before LA is ready. I think they will.

Get me there. I'll be glad to let you know then. You do have a good point though.

Splitz: Why hasn't this "Basketball's Best Kept Secrets" album come up before? It sounds outstandingly bad:

http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/12515

Cedric Ceballos, J.R. Rider, and Chris Mills talking about their own greatness? How haven't I heard of this before?

It has actually been brought up a few times on the site and made reference to it. There was a time when I could recite the lyrics to almost all of the songs. :chuckles:

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

Shaw didn't fly cross country to interview two times in two days for nothing, he'll have a contract offer for the coaching job at the end of his 2nd interview tomorrow.

He'll accept it and we'll have our coach heading into FA. A guy that had a great chance to replace one of the best in the game, this isn't just some ordinary "career" assistant.

I'm more worried we don't sign Lebron. Typical, always thinking ahead before we even get there.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

I want to know which three members in here chose "neither?"

Further; what coach did you all have in mind?... Mike Brown? :chuckles:

BTW: To whoever wrote that Mike Brown is the best coach available that we already fired; isn't it telling that his name has not been really mentioned for any coaching vacancies?.. at least not in a serious way.

I went neither. I'm for Bill Lambier.
