Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

If LBJ stays i would love Brian Shaw because he would install something new with the Triangle Offense just look what it did for MJ and Kobe. Really he is the next best thing besides Phil Jackson because he has been with Phil Jackson for Awhile and knows how to coach.

Yes. A much younger/shiny new Phil, if you will.

Do you mean this guy?

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

Is it sad that I used to have this album when I was 13? The funny thing is that the song is far more introspective than most of what you hear on the radio today.

I still have 2 copies on vinyl. I got them for a quarter each at CD Game Exchange when they were still called Record Exchange.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

This right here I like to hear and appreciate. I think it's Shaw no matter what. Mainly because I think Scott will go to LA if Phil retires ( ownership wants him) or will wait a year. Either way, that still has Shaw in Cleveland out of the two candidates.

I also wouldn't put that much stock into Chris Paul loving Scott and a connection to James staying in Cleveland. Kidd is a good friend of Lebron as well and is the opposite side of the coin.

Wow those were some strong quotes right there...I respect and appreciate that he is willing to coach with or without james here...Man he would be a solid coach

I see phil retiring, scott signing with LA and shaw signing here...I hope we can sign him by thursday or sooner

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

You have to give Scott some credit. The guy came right out and stated he's not waiting on Jackson and he would take the Cavs offer today. He also stated he believes LeBron is probably staying.... he says good chance anyway. He also said he wants the Cavs job whether or not LeBron stays. You have to give him credit for that.

Anyway; I'm torn between the two of them. I still believe Scott will be offered the job this week, but I have to think it really depends on how well Shaw did/does in Cleveland. If Shaw is offered, does he tell Gilbert he has to wait until Jackson decides? He if says that, does Gilbert then say forget it and offer it to Scott instead?

I don't believe it makes a difference to LeBron. He's fine with either of them.

Exciting times.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

on WKNR they had a Cavs beat writer from the Akron Beacon Journal. He divulged that the Cavs want to have a decision (does not mean contract) on who their coach is by tomorrow...no link, no sources other than old school A.M. frequency.

The interviewee thought Lebron would leave for Chicago (shocking!) and that if we hired Brian Shaw it would be for a rebuilding mode (lebron leaves) and Mr. byron would be for a more long term solution (i.e. Lebron stays)

I feel the same way but leaning more heavily toward Shaw the more I think about it. I do like that Scott came out so strongly despite the unknown around Lebron. I want a coach that is willing to take risk and not cow to 1 player. Shaw is much more the unknown and risk here -- either way will be exciting to get a fresh start at head coach.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

"I’m not sitting and waiting on Phil Jackson," Scott told Yahoo. "That ain’t me. I’m not waiting on anybody. I would coach there without LeBron. But they got a good shot at getting him back."

That right there sealed the deal for me in acquiring Scott. That is commitment. LeBron or no LEbron. Good to hear that.

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

I doubt who they hire has an indication on Lebron staying or going. Lebron has been open about playing for Shaw. I think whoever the Cavs hire is the guy they want coaching their team with, or without Lebron.

I'm almost more prone to go with Shaw, since I think his potential ceiling as a head coach could be much higher than Scott's. He's really well respected, and is coming from a good regime. Although what scares me off is so did Mike Brown, and look how that turn out. No guarantee with Shaw, and it is more of gamble.

Scott we know what we'll get. It's not great, it's not horrible, it's somewhere between. My excitement for a coach went down the drain when Izzo said no.

Just one of the two accept the job before Thursday. I just want a head coach by the time Lebron can make a decision.

Okay; I'm confused. That was Byron Scott telling Yahoo that... NOT Brian Shaw. Which coach do you want?

Re: Windy: Offer to Shaw or Scott could come soon

I said yesterday I wanted whichever one said they weren't going to wait on LA and that we were their first choice. It sounds like that's Scott.

He's played in the league, coached in the league, and has taken a team to the finals twice and he potentially could help lure CP3 here at some point. I'd like to have this taken care of ahead of thursday.

That's a good point. I believe Paul's contract is for two more years. He actually could request/tell/insist to NO to be traded to the Cavs. Would NO do that? Probably not, but if he was forceful and Cavs gave NO equal value, then why not? If not now, he's a FA in two years and would then come over to the Cavs. Good days.

I think Shaw will hesitate if he's offered the job and only because he wants to wait on Jackson. I don't think Gilbert will go for that and turn around and hire Scott this week.
