I heard last week that Martin may be available. OK, I know his knees have been having problems lately and that he isn't the same kind of player in Denver that he was in New Jersey, but I think he's just a bad fit in Denver. In NJ, JKidd made him a better player. Denver doesn't have anybody who can make other players around him better. Carmelo is a scorer first and not a passer. Andre Miller is good, but come on, he's not JKidd. Not even close! Boykins is a backup.

But, in Cleveland, imagine what he could be with LeBron. Imagine seeing that toughness back in the lane. Imagine a power forward who actually goes to the rack strong (unlike Gooden) and finishes with authority. Tom Tolbert of ESPN called KMart the most violent dunker in the NBA last year. It would be insane to have him and LeBron on the same team.

Martin and James have the same birthday, so KMart will be turning 28 in a week when James turns 21. I know Gooden is only 24 and he is of good health, unlike Martin. But if the salaries are right, would you swap Gooden (and some other role players to make the contracts match) for Martin?

I would!

Kenyon Martin is the prototype power forward for us. However his salary is quite high making it tough for us to match with players they would take back. Kenyon hasn't exactly blown the world away with his form.

I say no to this trade due to the fact we cannot make a decent offer.

No, I want Marc Jackson...New Jersey Nets..

No Kenyon is out of our league, and he isn't the same type of player who should be making that type of money. I'll take Joe Pryzbilla please.

:drink: Here-Here i'm with ya...

No,

Martin does not answer the call. We need a muscle PF yes, but one with defensive ability to slow down the leagues best PFs, and preferably one that can play some real center. Kmart is shorter and lighter than Gooden, he is not the guy we need and he is a budget buster. Muhammed made more sense than KMart and was better suited to our budget and our needs.

Marc Jackson can do that.. :chuckles:

What exactly can the Cavaliers offer for Kenyon Martin? I doubt Denver would take Drew and some role players. That just isn't enough and would probably set Denver back a bit.

The only player I see Denver being interested in, is Zydrunas.

I'd give them Z and Gooden for Camby and KMart. :chuckles: I'm serious, too. I know I might get grilled for that, but that's just me. Camby is an unbelievable defender.

Gooden is a better rebounder and a better offensive player

Kmart is a better defender

Kmart is grossly overpaid and has about 6 yrs $80M remaining (including this year)

No ....he's not the fit. I like the Nazr Muhammad option better ..

with his knees hurt, no. the more and more i have watched kmart the more he looks like a glorified drew gooden to me. i was going to post that after the denver game.

martin looks like he's going for the spectacular dunk and spectacular plays just like drew has these past two years. i understand why drew is playing like that (contract) but i don't see why kenyon is.

not playing with kidd has hurt kenyon. he has shown he is not all he is cracked up to be. imo.

K-mart would flourish here. He'd have a set-up guy in LeBron, and a true center in Ilgauskas. Should he be only asked to focus on defense and rebounding, and grab those garbage points here and there, he'd be great. He's a strong, high-energy player, and would really be a good fit here.

Too bad his contract is way too big for anyone's good.

yes, kmart would flourish here and put up stats that would be ALMOST as good (per minute) as what gooden is already putting up. maybe.

Another thing is he has knee problems. That's no good.

In terms of numbers, if he stays healthy, he'd probably put up a bit better numbers than Gooden, just because he's a tad more consistent. He could average upward of 30-35 minutes. Being next to Z, he'll be closer to 11-2 rebounds a game, and right around 1.5-2 blocks. But with increased production comes increased pay. No way we pay the garbage man 14 million a year.
