I heard last week that Martin may be available. OK, I know his knees have been having problems lately and that he isn't the same kind of player in Denver that he was in New Jersey, but I think he's just a bad fit in Denver. In NJ, JKidd made him a better player. Denver doesn't have anybody who can make other players around him better. Carmelo is a scorer first and not a passer. Andre Miller is good, but come on, he's not JKidd. Not even close! Boykins is a backup.
But, in Cleveland, imagine what he could be with LeBron. Imagine seeing that toughness back in the lane. Imagine a power forward who actually goes to the rack strong (unlike Gooden) and finishes with authority. Tom Tolbert of ESPN called KMart the most violent dunker in the NBA last year. It would be insane to have him and LeBron on the same team.
Martin and James have the same birthday, so KMart will be turning 28 in a week when James turns 21. I know Gooden is only 24 and he is of good health, unlike Martin. But if the salaries are right, would you swap Gooden (and some other role players to make the contracts match) for Martin?
I would!
