So long, David Griffin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Frye and Mozgoz didn't move the needle and either. So by your logic, they were shitty players that we gave assets for, so those deals were bad, right?

Not gonna answer, huh?

Who in our 8-9 man rotation would you replace with Ibaka?

Seriously? You've dodged half of my arguments, but going to pull the "not going to answer" card. After saying Segre Ibaka and Lou Williams were shitty players without any evidence.

Sorry I wasted these pages of this thread. We're done here. Welcome to ignore!

I answered all of your questions directly, except that last one when you clearly avoided mine first. So don't point the finger.

You provided this hilarious list of players, and I would MUCH rather have the roster we have RIGHT NOW than a single one of those players--including Cousins.

Griffin has done a FANTASTIC job. If you want to pretend you would do better, go right ahead. But there's a reason you're not working for an NBA team right now.

Wrong. This is so dumb. What does "a little quick to throw in draft picks" actually mean?

He had NO CHOICE but to trade some of those early assets for space after LBJ announced he was coming back.

Be specific: In what particular deal could he have gotten a better deal? What other/better deal was available? Was that GM willing to deal with Griff for the assets we had available?

The only way you could answer those questions is if you have inside information. Otherwise, you're just writing arm-chair GM bullshit that has zero basis in factual information.

Griffin is fucking amazing. Period.

a little quick to throw in picks is exactly what it sounds like. griffin early on spent a lot of first rounders to get the trades he wanted done. i dont know how this could be wrong. i didnt disagree with the fact that we won the trades. I didnt say that we could have gotten a better deal. I did say that i didnt think sending out those picks ended up making us any worse. all i said was that he was willing, and maybe too willing, to spend draft picks to get his deals done. im not armchair GMing, i didnt suggest him to not make any of those moves or any different moves. i literally just said i wonder what would have happened if he stood firm and we ended up with certain trade assets (the first rounders he traded). i honestly dont know what you objected to so much about my post. i understand that lebron coming back somewhat forced his hand. i believe the fact that he didnt have the job security he does now (even though his contract is expiring at the end of the year) made him feel like he had to get his moves done now.

what you ended up doing is setting up a strawman in telling me that i needed to be specific about what i thought he could have done better, or some other specifics. then you attacked that by saying that i couldnt know what specific offers he had available unless i was a real GM (or had sources). Again, to reiterate, i was not suggesting that the cavs needed to make different moves in order to be better. I appreciate that griffin was patient with what little assets he had and it appears that he is netting us bogut and d-will. Then I wondered if he showed that patience in the beginning of his tenure, would we have more lucrative assets such as 1st round picks now. Then i wondered what he would be able to do with those more lucrative assets. if you want to say he had no choice in trading those extra picks, thats fine i guess (despite the fact that you have no inside information to make that claim), but it doesn't mean that what i was saying was 'so dumb".

seriously, i said that griffin was a good GM, and i can think that while holding the OPINION that there is always room for improvement. No GM has ever made 100% perfect moves, and I dont think griff has either. that is literally all i was saying.

look, dont bother responding. youre on my ignore for a reason.

Agree to disagree, but at the end of the day I think we all can enjoy that he's pretty damn good and that the Cavs are in contention yet again.

TitleTown stays making enemies :chuckle:

Come on guys, we all want one goal here. No need to ignore or come up with crazy shit at one another.

We should all be happy Cavs fans right now, especially after picking up Korver, DWill #1 and #2, and most likely Bogs for basically nothing. Unless you want to count Dunleavy and a 1st.

Fact of the matter is, the champions replaced Delly and Timo, with Deron, Bogut, Korver, Derrick. There should be no beef amongst us. Everything should be puppies and kittens.

Please refer to them as Rick & Ron. :chuckle:

David Griffin appearing on the Cavs post game show with the "was it something I said" segment with RJ.. and told Richard that he was unable to trade him at the deadline... for a first. Us GIVING a first with Richard.

Cold. Ded.

Griff has done a fabulous job, but he is the luckiest GM on earth. #1 overall his first year. Got LeBron back without lifting a finger. These buyouts. Great GM, incredible luck.

Griff deserves credit for the buy-out signings because a less patient GM might have signed Rio or Farmer by now, along with one of the center scrubs people were talking about.

Back when Lebron was making noise about needing to improve the roster people around these discussions were falling over themselves with bullshit and unrealistic trade ideas. Shump and Love were back on the trade block for the Rudy Gay types.

Right when Lebron complained Griff said we'd need to be patient and he walked that walk. Now we've signed Deron with a great chance to add Bogut, for peanuts.

People want to be Monday morning quarterbacks and pooh-pooh the fact we've added Korver, Derrick Williams, Deron Williams, and maybe Bogut when we're capped out with jack squat for tradable assets? Saying that anybody could have done as well?

GTFOH.

Again, that’s still luck and a risk. What would we have done if Deron and Bogut were never bought out?

I love Griffin, but come on dudes, any knowledgeable GM that's worthy can sit in Griff's seat and drive the hotrod the same speed.

Let me see him eventually have an actual draft.
