So long, Kay Felder

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is kind of that pick that in two years when we see what he can do when Bron is in his.... Man feels like he may never decline. However he will be needed and this is a very Spurs like pick. Plan for a future where KI and hopefully Love are the main guys and this kid could be a sixth man of the year award winner for better hopes.

The Cavaliers saw that a change of pace can be dangerous when McAdoo came out of nowhere for production, or when Dantay Jones came out of nowhere to spark us from the end of the bench.

That said, he isn't a guy you plan on being in the rotation from the first season. Everybody... everybody... everybody passed on him for a reason. Can he be a surprise weapon off the end of the bench next year? Let's see this summer.

I don't see Felder as Delly's replacement or insurance policy. Delly was real effective when Waiters was on this team and they played off each other real well. Felder role might be with Delly to create an effective bench rotation. Hopefully he can be the playmaker this bench needs. From the highlights I watched Felder likes to push the tempo another thing the bench needs to keep them effective on offense.

I think we have a player here. This dude has serious quickness, handles, excellent passing and can make shots off the dribble. If you could pair him with larger defensive wings I think he can give quality minutes.

Delly can play with anybody in a combo role and has shown the ability to defend larger players.

I think the problem when you put shump and Delly together in the back court is you have some problems at times offensively (enter Lebron James thank to t Lue).

I know it's frowned upon around these parts to get too high on second rounders, but I have a good feeling with this kid. I really like what I see.

Watched the Draft Express "weaknesses" video and was interested to see how he is especially reliant on his strong hand, which limits his ability to finish in traffic. If he gets a real shot with the Cavs, he'll need to master every drill that Kyrie uses to finish with either hand.

The video also pointed out a bunch of defensive lapses, some of which can be attributed to how important he was to his team's offensive fortunes. They rested him or tried to hide him on defense. Other issues involving defensive effort might have a similar cause. In either case, if he wants to make an NBA roster, he's going to have to devote much more energy on that side of the floor.

He's got some important stuff to work on to up his game. But some of the strengths are eye-popping. His passing will be appreciated by all of his teammates. Great vision and execution on both challenging and basic plays. And obviously he can score.

It's kind of a unique case because he seems to have first round talent, but his height is an obvious and major limitation in the NBA. If this kid were Kyrie's height he'd probably be a top ten pick, if not top five. He's got the scoring, passing, and athleticism of a lottery pick point guard easily. Just not the body.

But I agree and also have a good feeling. You watch his clips and he feels special. The passes he makes are insane. I could definitely see him becoming a dynamic sixth man bench scorer like Jamal Crawford has been able to do for forever now.

He reminds me Derrick Rose's explosive step backs moves. Maybe he can be good, welcome Kay.

His athleticism is impressive but I'm more intrigued by his handle. He seems to really be skilled on that end and has a lot of moves to create space for himself. I don't normally pay much attention to guys taken this late but this guy looks to have some real potential. He may amount to nothing but I could totally see him being an Isaiah Thomas 2.0.

this is what a scout says about Felder:

Kay Felder, 5'10" junior guard, Oakland: "Love that little guy. He's small like Kentucky's Tyler Ulis, but he's sturdier and able to play more physically. He really got handed the keys to the car in Oakland, so maybe it's harder to judge. Tough, competitive, good athlete, but he's just tiny. His body type is pretty thick. Has some medical issues with his knee. Don't know if he makes it because of his height, but he'll go down swinging."

I think this draft at worst delivers a championship to the canton charge

Glad we got Kay, but the absolute best thing about 2016 draft was this.

Does anybody notice someones missing? :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I really like that we picked up Kay!

He is that kind of guy who has it all exept for height. When you look at quite some Small Guys that can be overcome.. He is strong, fast, hyper Athletic can pass and Shoot and is Clutch. If he where 6'3 or 6'4 he would have been a Lottery pick.

Reminds me of a Mixture of IT and Nate Robinson. If he could someday become "just" Nate Robinson i would be estatic.. Bench Scoring problem.. solved.

If I'm not mistaken the Cavs can keep his rights and put him into the D-League for one year.

Maybe he transitions over to the 3rd PG in 2017.

I'm just going to say this. The Golden State Warriors bought the 38th pick for $2.4 million to take McCaw.

16 picks later, at 54, the Cavs also paid a full $2.4 million for this selection. For a late 2nd when we were only six picks from him becoming an undrafted free agent.

I've seen the highlights, I know the stats, and I read the reports on him, but one thing has me sold. David Griffin and our scouts believe that he was worth paying full price to get back in this draft with 6 slots left.

All those tweets about Cavs trying desperately to get in the 2nd round were about this guy. I don't know if he does or doesn't work out, but he will get every opportunity. We clearly wanted him BAD. To me, that signals he will be on the roster.

Not to mention, there's a good chance we stole him from that other team from Oakland.
