So long, Kay Felder

I'm rooting for this kid, the team saw something in him to pay for him basically but it seems like he isn't even slightly improving. Obviously its a little more than half his first season in but the team assigns him to the D League to get time in and ti develop and he isn't. I have watched him in the D League and he is only getting points because of the inferior talent out there. He needs to work on his hands, work on your hands, man.

He has been a total disappointment to me. I was one of his biggest supporters and it pains me to say this.
He is a project that i'm not sure we should hold on to. His attempts at the rim are embarrasing now, he is very exploitable on both sides of the court.
you can attack him on defense and you can trap him to death on offense since he can't see very well over the defenders.
His style of game is not what this team need now. I like him and he is a good kid but i'm not optimistic.

-Quin Cook is the much better prospect but there was no way to drop Felder either way because of Gilbert.
-Next year we are going to need that roster spot and he isn't going to see the court at all if we extend Deron.

Guy shouldn't have even been playing for us this season. Should have been down in the D-League 5 out of his 7 days of the week.

Thanks, Mo...

Hope we keep him down in the D League and rack up a bunch of minutes once D Will Sr. gets here.

Yep. He should be in the D-League from now till the end of the season.
No reason to keep him on the bench now.

I honestly love Kay Felder and would love for him to be the first ever Canton Charge MVP

He had a bad half but he has shown flashes. Whenever he has gone down to the d-league has had lite it up. The reason to keep him on the bench is to have Kyrie and Deron tutor him during practice and in game. The little things Kyrie and Deron can point out they see during the game can help his vision going forward.

If the Cavs get Bogut or Sanders, he has to go against a real shot blocker and presents in the middle he won't get in the d-league or from practice so far this season. Again the lack of length, height, and shot blocking in the d-league isn't going push Felder into being a NBA player. Hopefully this next couple months in practice and the summer league will be where Felder makes his jump.

Just my opinion after I initially supported the pick...

Great kid, and I was rooting for him. But having watched him against NBA level talent I simply see no way his skills, quickness or play making ability will ever overcome his other rather obvious shortcomings at the NBA level.

I submit that any resources spent towards forcing this kid into an NBA rotation will be wasted. Not enough upside, too many challenges that are beyond anyone's control.

For a team that has every intention of competing for a title every year for the foreseeable future we can only try to bring along maybe one rookie project at a time. It looks like Osman might be the guy next year and I don't see how we can afford to keep nursing someone like Felder along. I'd rather take a flier on any other guard prospect who has NBA size, length, and mobility all in one package.

I don't think he is so bad. He had a bad game.

He has still shown nice flashes of vision. That assist to Derrick was amazing.

He needs court time. I think he could be serviceable at least. He has not had many practices and he hasn't gotten court time. Hi steals were also nice last game.

I think the game has not slowed down for him yet, which is why we haven't seen him use his athleticism like he had in the dleague

Lol people "after watching him I realize he's too short."

When I heard he was 5'9" I realized he was too short. Go ahead and cite Isaiah Thomas the Celtics are pretenders not contenders. And even if Felder could shoot lights out it's pretty much a guarantee that any team can exploit him defensively.

So, the things you’re stating are the reasons he can’t be an NBA starter. We’re all aware of this. It’s the same reason why Isaiah Thomas can’t make the Celtics a contender as long as he remains their best player.

But if Felder works on his game, there’s no reason why he can’t reach his ceiling as a solid and serviceable backup guard in the NBA. It will obviously take some time, maybe even a few years, but I’m pretty confident he can achieve that ceiling.

Yep, Kay doesn't belong and should be cut because if there's anything we've learned watching the NBA, it's that you can determine how good a player is after only 350 minutes in the league and less than a half season of in game action...

Man, I am so glad no one here is in charge of actual decisions.

Yep, the eye test should hold some water in talent evaluation. If Felder could develop something like 50% accuracy from 3 point range maybe he could have a chance. I just don't see it.

It becomes a choice on where you want to spend your player development resources, on someone with true NBA potential or someone whose ceiling is an end of the rotation back-up?
