They aren't going to be with the team next year. I'm not concerned.

With the way Speights has been playing, he'll pick up his option and be on the team next year.

Pretty sure Miles will be here next year as well.

Maybe...Cavs might decide to get some actual bench players next year and Miles will have to earn his minutes, instead of playing because there is no one else to play. The Cavs options at SG/SF after Gee right now are Ellington (he will get minutes next year) Walton, Casspi, Miles, Gibson. So if they get a SF somehow, Miles shouldn't really be seeing the floor too much if he is on the team.

Cavs could probably deal Speights if he picks up his option too...

You know, I've noticed that I don't even really have to have my say in every thread whenever tanking is brought up. I've built up a culture around here where a certain language, lingo, and belief system are used without even me having to spur it on. This, my friends, is how we know that we've arrived. Totally agree about the need for a shot-blocking Center, hopefully Cauley-Stein falls to the Lakers pick, doubt it though :-(

Dude, just a question: do you stay up until like 4 am just to watch the games?

:chuckles: I usually have a pretty strange sleeping rhythm because of the semester break right now... but even when I gotta get up the next day, I still watch most games live and go to classes without much sleep if any ;-)

The big issue is Kyrie will be in year 4 by then and due for his extension. We don't have time to draft another potential superstar and wait another 2-3 years for that player to fully develop. We have better odds of using trades and free agency to get the superstar we need than the 2014 draft.

I won't even examine if I agree with that or not

I just want to pull out my whistle and call you for flagrant tanking.

Unacceptable to want to take so prematurely. You at least have to see how this draft plays out - or pretend to be doing so.

I will say, though, that if Irving in year three, Thompson in year 3, Waiters in year 2, and a highly drafted rookie cannot break out of the bottom 8 teams in the league next year (I assume that tanking again would mean at LEAST bottom 8), then I wonder if that core can ever win a championship, regardless of who they got in 2014.
