The Brian Hoyer thread...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've always felt he will be the best bad weather QB the Browns have had in a while. He is a Clevelander, this weather stuff isn't new.

Great point.

Not to mention Michigan Stater and New Englander.

Great game for him tonight.

9-3 as Browns starting QB. Simple as that.

final line from hoyer 15-23 for 198 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs. 92 QB rating.

i have absolutely 0 doubt the advanced stats will show this as a negative game for hoyer. despite the fact that he was clearly one of the reasons the browns run (that and the borwns defense)

Hoyer played well. Had he hit that deep pass I'd be all over his dick but he played well regardless.

Defense, and Dalton and the running game are still the primary reason we won IMO but ... I mean you have to give credit to Hoyer too. Not turning the ball over (for him anyways) was huge.

The way he was slingin the ball tonight...wow. Don't ever remember seeing that from him.

I have 8 buddies at the game...some Cincy fans. They were texting me ripping on me all game for not going...i admittedly expected the worst. I'm a puss and deserved the grilling.
Anywho, they said the conditions were pretty bad and it was windy as shit. The Cincy boys kept on saying "is the wind not blowing when Hoyer is passing?" They said on the long throw that he was throwing dead into the wind...evidence to support that was the 69 yard punts going the other direction.
Great win...wish I was there. :(

It was VERY windy. Not only that, but the wind sucked the heat right out of you. I had plenty of layers... longjohns, gloves, hat. And I was still cold.

For Hoyer to be throwing bullets in wind like that was refreshing. But he also had to stay warm on the sideline while his defense was on the field, and it didn't seem to bother him one bit. Nice to see a QB who knows how to play in the elements, because it is just going to get worse from here on into December.

+2.6 grade from Pro Football Focus

Well deserved.

65% completions, 8.6 YPA, 0 sacks, 2 pressures

The running game and offensive line did what they were supposed to do, Hoyer did what he was supposed to do.

His best game of the season, both in the advanced stats category and my own personal opinion. Ball stayed short and quick to the outside, showed great accuracy to the middle of the field and didn't leave his guys out to dry.

Most importantly, and I can't overstate this enough.

He got the ball to his motherfuckin PLAYMAKER!:

Milkin Barnidge for all he's worth.

Guy was panning for gold last night and pioneering a new era of Browns football.

When black came to smith, the guy got hotter than a greasy gas station attendant in the middle of a horror movie protagonist's roadtrip through a rural area with a humid climate.

You really painted a picture there.

Good performance by Hoyer, no complaints other than that under throw to Benjamin. Was hitting his receivers in stride for the most part. Starting to get excited about the return of Gordon.

So they didn't call Adkin's TFL as a sack in the 1st Q? It appeared Hoyer was going to hand off but Adkins tackled him before he got to the RB. That's a straight tackle for loss and not a sack?

Correct, it's assumed that's a running play and Hoyer takes a loss of rushing yards on the play.

Hoyer's ball was damn impressive last night. Some of the slow-mo replays from reverse angle really showed how his ball was tight and cutting through the wind.

You compare Hoyer's ball to Dalton's and it's embarrassing. Dalton's ball was nose up all night immediately out of his hand. Nearly every ball Dalton threw was severely impacted by the wind. Not only is it an arm-strength issue, but it's a release point issue as well.

I give Hoyer more credit for his arm and mechanics now more than ever before. I knew his arm talent was decent, but not to the level he proved last night. I'm really happy for Brian and hope he continues his solid play...the city and he deserve it.
