This. Seriously calling Derrick Rose a pussy when he's worked so hard again and again to recover from painful career altering injuries is ridiculous especially when you have no idea what it's like to go through it.

And there's no limit on how many well wishes and prayers you can send out to people. I don't understand why anyone would ever be upset that people are concerned for another human being.

The thing is, he is one of the best players in the league, when healthy. He is not a pussy. Meniscus tears aren't a joke. Especially if it is multiple times on the same one. It could be career threatening injury.

His explosiveness is likely gone after this surgery.

If this was LeBron, you would be thinking differently. We want all of our star players in the league healthy because that is when the NBA is at its best.

I wouldn't think different. D Wade has the same issues with his knees. Didn't hurt him until he got older.

Hopefully the good that comes out of this is that Derrick realizes that injuries are out of his control. All he can do is play ball when he gets the chance. I was very upset he chose to sit out the 2013 playoffs when he had been cleared to return for months. So he decided to try to play balls out when the 2013-2014 season started and that lasted 10 games. This year he tried being cautious and pacing himself and that didn't work. Only thing that can get an athlete back to normalcy is playing time. If you wont ever be an all star again so be it. Adjust. But you won't know that if you don't go through the regular rigors of an NBA season.

I wouldn't think different. D Wade has the same issues with his knees. Didn't hurt him until he got older.

I think DWade had his meniscus completely removed back in college. Early word is that doctor's say this tear isn't as serious as the one from last year so it could be partially removed. Normally people don't go through two full repairs. Secondary tears are not and oddity (see Westbrook). Guess we will see what they do.

I feel bad for Rose, but this is why I always brushed Chicago off as a contender. You just can't count on the guy. Just like Kobe (at this stage), anyone who goes to LA to "play with Kobe" is a moron.

It's why I find it hilarious when people say Love will go to LA to play with Kobe.

His knee is basically shot. He will never be Derrick Rose again, but he could be a solid backup PG, if he could get over the mental hurdle, i.e going from top 10 player to bench player. Limiting him to 15-20 minutes a game, no back to backs, and regular rest during busy months. Any precaution that the team can take to keep him healthy.

I think you could get 60 games a year out of him, and he would be a fantastic floor general in limited minutes.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but the problem with Rose is that his entire game relies on brute athleticism. This is why so many people were riding his nuts this year was because it looked like he got 80% of his old athleticism back. He doesn't have the court vision of Rondo or the handles of Kyrie. Without his speed and hops, he's just a mediocre combo guard with no particular skill set.

He is the RG3 of the NBA. It will be interesting to see how the Bulls as an organization decides to move forward. I wonder if they would have traded away their entire team if this injury happened before the trade deadline? They have some great young players to rebuild around.

Amnesty is long gone. Why would you say his knee is shot? Westbrook's knee is not shot and he has 3 surgeries related to his meniscus. All doctor's that have spoken on this have said what happened is not an oddity and there is no reason why he should not be able to resume his career. I think DRose problem all this time was more mental than anything. Will he ever be 2011 DRose? Probably not. But I don't see a reason why he should not be able to continue to be a starter. What is going to be interesting (and scary as a Bulls fan) is if he gets back to being a viable piece of the team puzzle how are the Bulls going to handle his next contract? Many of you may not know this but his impact in the community goes way beyond anything he has done on the basketball court. Not many people in Chicago can get rival gang leaders into the same room to talk about the violence that has plagued the city for the last decade.

I'm not totally sure this injury implies he needs to retire soon. Brandon Roy, who I think is the best comparison, had knees in much worse shape and actually admitted he just didn't want to deal with the pain anymore while he couldn't play basketball at as high of a level as he once was playing. I think what it does suggest, though, is he needs to be playing significantly less-playing time. I also think what this season shows is he could be very good as an offensive leader off the bench. He could still be useful closing out 4th quarters but it is all about finding the right spot.

I do think the Bulls will try and stick with Rose, but not as a star player. I don't think he will be able to pull a Z in start, or at least play starter's minutes, in the NBA. I frankly don't believe he should've been this year anyways. But, I think what your statement implies is that his career as a starter, and especially MVP caliber player, are over and most basketball fans agree with that. The questions are where he will play and in what role. My bet is he will be a Bull for life but in a significantly reduced role.

The Bulls success rests on the knees of Noah this year and that's not looking good for them either.
