The Daily Dame

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This old man is due $216 Meel-yun dollars. He will be scrap-iron in 2 years!
What the Hell is stopping you from making a trade? Be glad that someone takes him off your hands!
Yep. Much like we did with Love, Portland messed up paying a guy that old, that much money, on a team that had no path to a championship. Its time to cut your losses, get what you can get, let someone else have his last few productive years along with his massive salary, and move on.

To me, this is exactly why you wait. Dame’s getting older. The longer this goes on, the more likely he’s going to be open to other teams.

The Heat need to do something. Butler’s not getting any younger. They clearly didn't have the talent to win a title last year and they lost two starters. Yeah, they made a Finals run last year, but they also nearly missed the playoffs entirely. They've done nothing to address frontcourt problems. Herro didn't play in the playoffs, but he was pretty crucial in them just staying competitive throughout the regular season.

Miami can't afford to go into the season with their team as is and wait it out. The East is better, and if they make no further improvements and try to wait for a trade to materialize, they could be on the outside looking in at the playoff picture. If they can't pull the trigger on a Dame trade, they're going to look elsewhere and Dame is going to have to open up his list of teams.

To be honest, Butler's demanded out of multiple situations before. If Miami can't pull off some type of trade to add talent, I could see it happening again.

How does this impact LeBron’s legacy?

The obvious difference is Love had no real value. Love's play and injury status didn't warrant that contract.

Dame is still an All-Star / All-NBA caliber player with multiple years on his deal. He was 3rd team All-NBA last year.

They should trade him, but they shouldn't be in any type of rush or make a quick deal to 'cut their losses'. We just saw a clear example of patience paying off last year with the Nets waiting to trade Durant and Kyrie.

I think he’s just going to start declining quickly, he’s at that age. If he comes out flat this year it’s just going to hurt his value.

Cavs should trade Mobley for him.
