The Darko Trade Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Darko trade

Thats a strecth, i think Memphis actually values Mayo more than Gay. He has been outplaying Gay the whole season, and will never be on the block. I definitely think Jrich will be available especially as the deadline approaches.....

He has already been mentioned in some trade rumors...

That just got me thinking. What if Memphis was to offer up Gay for a PF? They need a PF bad and could get something very nice if offering up Gay. It sounds crazy, I know.

If they traded Gay for a PF, they'd have nobody at SF.

Right now, Gay is their franchise player, and Mayo is quickly becoming a dynamic duo with him. Up front, Gasol looks like the real deal, and Darrell Arthur is playing good ball.

However, I hate Memphis for trading away Kevin Love and depriving me of laughter for years and years. If they would've kept Love instead of trading for Mayo, it would've been the Gay-Love era in Memphis :chuckles:

Re: Darko trade

Kevin Mchale has to be one of the stupidest gm's in the NBA. He traded Brandon Roy for Randy Foye, and traded O.J. Mayo for Kevin Bust...oops i mean love.

Wouldn't Memphis only need a role player at the SF spot if they were to grab a PF? (ex: Aldridge type talent)

They are looking into Outlaw and he could fill that spot. Of course it'd have to be the right deal to let Gay go.

And as far as your deprivation goes of laughter, you can still get it every once in a while when the Wolves and Grizzlies meet up for the Gay Love with Mayo collision:chuckles:

Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

I have been thinking of deals the Cavaliers may be looking at, taking into consideration their goals: Get younger, while improving talent-level, and improving depth.

Memphis comes to mind as a team we may be able to take advantage of.

We Get: Darko, Marko, Memphis 2009 draft pick, top-3 protected.

They get: Wally, Wright

Wally would request an immediate buyout..and would be back in Cleveland in a month.

Why it could happen: The Cavaliers would get a Big-Man who is young, and was considered by many to be the "next big thing" when he was drafted - some even thought the Cavaliers made a mistake taking LeBron over him - ....Anyway, his bench-time in Detroit seemed to effectively ruin him, and he has never recovered. However, in Cleveland he would have a set role, and would be a nice bench piece for the Cavaliers. Jaric is a big PG, who never plays much, but does have talent. The Cavs would be taking on these two contracts for the depth that Darko could provide, and the extra draft pick, which could come in handy for the Cavaliers. Memphis is still trying to cut costs and these two would be a huge lift off the pay-roll of a potential buyer.

Re: Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

Why would Memphis give up a draft pick (not to mention two other playyers)for essentially nothing? This would never happen.

Re: Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

Why would Memphis give us a pick, esp. only top-3 protected? It can't be because we're taking Jaric's contract and giving them expirings because they have plenty of cap space. Bad deal, they'd never do it.

Re: Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

I know memphis is probably trying to shed money in order to sell the team, but they aren't desperate enough to give up a high draft pick like that. Maybe a future first rounder, but that would also be a big maybe.

And it's not like this deal makes us any better, Darko's a 7 million dollar warm body.

Re: Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

I already started this thread without the draft pick. I want Darko, I think he might flurish here some, and he does have skills. He is only signed through 2010, so if it doesnt work out, its not a huge risk. 7 footers who can shoot and are 23 are a commodity no matter what people think. He could remain a dud, but he isnt completely useless. This isnt Dwayne Jones were talking about. (ofcourse if he had Dwayne Jones heart he would be an all star)

Didn't see your thread, sorry. Maybe someone can merge this with it.

As for adding the Pick... Memphis is in need of money..not picks. They considered selling their pick last year... I am sure that the idea of shedding 35 million dollars for two players that they dont play, is well worth a first round pick.

If it was YOUR team, and YOU were going under...and wanting to make the team attractive to a buyer... what do you think would be more attractive: a draft pick...even a high one (Barring a super-stud, like LeBron coming out ...this is a weak draft BTW), or... 35 million less in payroll????

This isn't a hard decision... not even close.

The Grizz may negotiate a better protection... say top-5, but not much more. It is more likely that they would have a top-5 protection this year, and no protection next year (as they have multiple first rounders again)

Re: Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

I can't see us dealing Wright mostly because he has taken Darnell and JJ under his wing and is turning them into real pros. Also dealing Wally for just jaric and milicic, imo, isn't a good idea. With Wally alone we could probably get an all star so dealing him for a young player who hasnt met expectations and an old player on the down side of his career isn't a good idea.

Well, this sort of deal would be a deadline deal...after the Cavs had decided there wasn't a better option.

Re: Jaric/Milicic/1st rounder

This team is playing the best ball they ever played, and Heath is just firing away rounds of trade ammunition like it's nobodies business...

lol...:chuckles:

Personally I'd rather keep Wally then get Jaric and Milicic. We would really love the cap space
