The Exceptions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I need odds obviously because it's 1 vs 14. But honestly, I've never seen a team come off a finals victory and play so damn hard. Plus, Steph is just doing what he wants out there, and when he doesn't (as in scoring a measly 20 points), the rest of the team steps up. And it's a different guy every night. I don't see them losing more than 3 games in a series to any team in the league. I'm hoping Kyrie and Shumpert can bring the heart back to this team, but if they play with this sort of effort against the Warriors, we're going to get dominated. It's crazy how teams without as much talent as us (even when we're unhealthy), can give fits to the opposing teams like Golden State. It's all effort.
I'm not giving you odds. Either you're convinced they're unbeatable, or you're not. Don't go changing your story now that you realize that I'm right.

Realize that you're right? Not at all, but I don't want a measly prize for something that you think is impossible. I want it to be worth my while. If not, it's kind of pointless and you're just wasting my time.

Probably gonna get killed for it but I would take Josh Smith. I know he won't provide shooting but he'd create a ton a mismatches and he can play the 3, 4, and small ball 5.

I think he could have a bigger and better impact than JR Smith did when we acquired him last season. I was all for trading for JR Smith last season as well.

J.R. Smith thinks Josh Smith is a headache.

Well going over the options we might have if he was not a headache he would have been perfect. Yeah but no way stay away all day.

I just don't know what he does for us though.

He doesn't really stretch the floor, he can't get his own shot and he only plays defense when he wants to.

It's amazing he's only 30. I honestly thought he was 35 ish. He's bounced around so much, he seems like a complete washout at this point.

I wouldn't waste money or an exception on someone like him. Think you have to hold out until later in the year.

I think people need to get over the whole player x is a headache argument. It;s about fit and perspective. There have been times this season when Lebron has been a huge headache on and off the court.

I don't think we should assume a guy like Josh Smith who's had a bad rep for his play and not so much his character is just going to be a problem here. Josh Smith is not a bad person or teammate. People think he's a problem because of his play. Don't get it twisted though. Aside from his shot selection he's been one of the most versatile players in the league the last 10 years.

Can you imagine a lineup with Delly, Shump, Lebron, Josh Smith, and Mozzy. That's not a lot of offense but defensively that lineup is beastly.

We need a PF who -

has high defensive IQ
can defend at a high level, with an emphasis on pick and roll defense and switching
can switch on guards or centers and hold his ground vs both
can hit opens 3's

once we get this mystery player our best line up would be - Kyrie,Delly,Shump,LBJ,???
just imagine the defense of that roster, it will demoralize teams so much.
and the offense is going to be so unstoppable with LBJ/Ky attacking and everybody else able to hit open 3's.

any Ideas lol?

He's making the vet minimum. You don't think he could help us more than Mo Williams or James Jones. I do.

I agree with most of this but I don't think he has to be a knockdown 3 point shooter like most people think. I think watching the Warriors has people thinking that all 5 players need to be 3 point shooters. You can win with guys who don't even attempt 3's.

I believe the most important thing the mystery player needs to be able to do is guard PF's some Centers and some SF's more than hit 3's. We may not have the best 3 point shooting but we have enough to where this players defense will probably end up being more important.

I just don't think he's a difference maker. He doesn't do anything great or exceptionally well.

Given the tax implications of using the exception, I think it needs to be for someone who is less volatile than Smith.

He was the difference maker when Houston beat the Clippers last season. Like Josh Smith dominated that series comeback. Look at the end of our roster and tell me who'd you rather give playoff minutes to than Josh Smith.

He could guard Lebron's man on D and make it easier for him.

He can guard every Center we faced in the playoffs last season.

He's great on the break in transition.

He handles the ball better than any big we have on the roster.

He's an underrated passer.

Los I can't believe you're talking me into this. If you could have him on the roster, it's not like he's worthless.

Question the fit all you want, but Smith wouldn't be completely terrible to have.

Wasting your time? You're the one who said you wanted in. If you think the Warriors are a lock, take the bet. If not, go away.

That means we could use the Miller exception on him and retain our larger Haywood exception for the summer, I like that idea a lot.
